I am so glad someone re-opened this business in downtown Defiance! Please stop through and check this place out! The good was delicious! I went for the reuben and my companion went for the Frisco burger. It did not disappoint! The sandwiches were delicious and the portions generous. The staff was plenty and helpful with our selections. They upgraded the interior but kept a few of the squirrel decor from before. The outside had lots of seating and we took advantage of the beautiful weather to sit outside. The wait staff was very attentive and made sure they kept the iced tea coming, and checking on us from time to time. I highly recommend this place whether you are driving or even bicycling through. This is very close to the Katy Trail, so you can park your bike and have a sit down.

The food was fantastic. I got the giant BLT (pictured) and was impressed. The bacon was thick-cut and the veggies tasted fresh. The fries had a great texture and seasoning. My partner enjoyed her fried shrimp and tots and raved about the housemade ranch dressing. It was definitely one of the best I’ve ever had.
All of the staff we interacted with were friendly and attentive, but not “too much.”
The atmosphere was fun and kind of down-home quirky/kitschy. My only issue was that the music was very loud, to where I had trouble hearing my partner. I’m pretty sensitive to that so take it with a grain of salt. If you’re good with typical sports bar volume you’ll be fine.
I would definitely come back, and their menu has quite a few items I still want to try. I’d give it a 4.5 if I could because of the volume, but our very sweet waitress tipped the scales over to a 5.

The food was pretty decent! Not bad, but don’t come here for a gourmet meal….. Then again, it is a bar in a super small town. I ordered a patty melt and added mushrooms. They forgot to add mushrooms so I just told the waitress, just expecting to not pay for mushrooms, that it didn’t come with mushrooms and it was no big deal. I told her I was ready for the check and she brought me a half off bill. Completely unnecessary, but I appreciated it! So she got a much bigger tip. Waitress could have been a bit more attentive, but I’m not here to complain. I’m here to tell you to try it out!

Wente’s Roadhouse is a local bar with good food in the heart of Defiance. We’ve eaten here several times… the food is better than your typical bar food. Good pizza, wings, burgers, salads, and more. Even the beef hotdog is good!
The atmosphere is rustic, nothing fancy. They have an outdoor patio in the front and on the side, plenty of seating during warm weather.
The staff is great, we’ve never had any issues getting served. It’s a very busy place on weekends, service slows a bit but they still do a good job. You can also order at the outdoor walk-up window and bar if you like.

We used to go tho this place all the time when it was the Defiance Roadhouse. Loved the food, service, and music there. Finally got a chance to go by now that it is Wente’s. We were very disappointed. Food was very average, and fries were full of grease and soggy. Service was just ok. The band that day left something to be desired. I don’t think we’ll be back anytime soon.

I’ve been taking rides on my motorcycle for many years to the infamous Defiance “biker bars”. I’ve always enjoyed Wente’s original location in Chesterfield Valley. The owners, management and staff is top-notch. Cold drinks, great food, and entertainment. I’m extremely happy that B&M made this investment in our community bringing the ownership back to “locals”. Do not hesitate, head down for great food, people, drink, live entertainment, cool bikes and rides.

Then, my onion rings were soggy. We didn’t get our appetizer until we were halfway done with our meal. We ordered a 2 topping pizza. One of the toppings was VERY wrong. They were very nice. it just seemed like they needed more staff and a cook who knew what he was doing.
Overall the food was unimpressive. So sad. We were so excited to come here.

Pizza was very good. Skip the $5.99 garden salad. Served in something not much bigger than a coffee cup & only had lettuce & a little cheese….not worth the cost.
Area outside is wonderful. You’re under a pavilion with fans going!!
