Lunch at this place was so lovely. We had salt cod mantecato, cod cheek, foie gras truffles, fried sunchokes, broiled oysters and mussels. All were delicious. The mussels are really tender and plump. Our waitress, Emma, was adorable. The virgin Bloody Mary was a bit too spicy to my taste so she immediately swapped to a blood orange mocktail for me. Everything from the food, the service and the vibe was above and beyond.

Beautiful food and wonderful, warm service—our recent experience here truly embodied hospitality and was a highlight of our time in Portland. They were awesome with a couple dietary restrictions and made finding the right dishes totally pleasant and easy. We sat at one of their pair of sidewalk tables and it was a nice way to enjoy the neighborhood at night. The chicory salad was excellent (it included a variety of radicchio I love but don’t see super often in the U.S.—that was a real treat!!) and the steak was swoon-worthy, cooked perfectly and familiar but not at all generic. We ended up getting a second side of the potatoes that came with it because they were so good. Solid wine list and bev service. I could go on!! We can’t wait to go back when we’re next in town—if you’re looking for a fabulous mellow meal and experience, add this spot to your list.

I cannot recommend Wayside enough. We just had our wedding reception there, and it was truly a dream. The whole team was professional and warm, and the co-owner Siobhan was so helpful in the weeks leading up to the wedding. I asked them to set certain things up before our guests arrived, and they followed my requests perfectly – but then I was delighted to find that they’d added extra touches I hadn’t even asked for, like printing our custom menu (a copy of which is now hanging on my bulletin board). OH, and I haven’t even mentioned the food yet! Wow. Everyone was raving. The fried cod cheeks? The eggplant with mozzarella? The sunchokes?! I could go on….

Visiting from Philly and I wanted something unique.. I saw the high ratings and sought them out. The staff is very friendly and engaging with conversation. I had the eggplant as an appetizer and it was dynamite. Followed it up with the roasted chicken, also well done! Dessert was chocolate Mousse which was a wonderful blend of sweet and salty thanks to the nuts. They earned this 5 star review and it’s no wonder they lead in all the restaurants in the area. Also loved the jazz they played in the background.. ambiance was tops. Well done!!

What a wonderful neighborhood tavern! Excellent food and cocktails! The steak melted in my mouth and the potato purée was literally the best I have ever had. The pasta was made from scratch and cooked to perfection! To add to the experience, the service and atmosphere are really great. If you ever find yourself in Portland- this is a must try!
