I paid $13.51 for a burger that was small, pathetic, and honestly tasted terrible. For that price, I expect quality and portion — not something worse than fast food. A $7 burger from Wendy’s is bigger, more satisfying, and actually tastes good. Places charging premium prices should deliver premium food. Restaurants like this won’t last if this is what they’re serving.

Good food and outstanding customer service. My wife and I frequent Burger FI and decided to search for a new burger place and came upon Wayback Burgers. Its pretty good! We tried their Double Beacon and Cajun burgers, Cheese Curds, Fries and Tenders. I will admit their tenders were quite small but they were very good.

Burgers are very good, “worth the wait”.
Ordered the cheese fries. Waitress messed up the order brought chili cheese. Would have gladly ate the mistake but the chili IMO is gross. Tomato paste with chili seasoning. They did make it right and bring cheese fries back to the table. With a bit of attitude..

Let’s talk Wayback!

Well, first thing first nothing in this place represents the name, not the taste, quality, nor the price. Burgers are very expensive, $13 for a single burger! I know a place I can get Wagyu for that price!! Bacon was SOOO skinny you can see true it and it’s impossible to taste it, check out the pictures. The veggies toppings taste EXACTLY, I mean EXACTLY, like what McDonald’s put on their stuff. Meat was totally tasteless. No wonder, no-one eats at this place. They didn’t have a single order in the busiest time of the day, and the workers were having their own lunch.

The ONLY reason I gave this place 2 stars was that the meet was super hot and fresh. I wish every burger place would serve their meat that hot. Felt so good.

Overall, I do not recommend this place to anyone. Don’t waste your money here. And to the owner, dude, I don’t see a bright future for this place unless you bring your price down to justify with the quality. That way you will definitely get some more loyal customers. Good luck!

I ordered the buffalo chicken stripes expecting decent portions of chicken with a good buffalo flavor. What I received looked more like thin, stringy scraps—definitely not “stripes.” One piece seemed to be nothing but over-fried batter with zero chicken inside. The rest were mostly small, chewy bits with barely any meat. Totally misleading and not worth the money at all. It felt like they either ran out of proper portions or just didn’t care about quality. I won’t be ordering this again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone expecting actual chicken.

The place is extremely clean and has a beautiful modern look to it. The staff behind the counter are super sweet and nice. Parking is convenient here as well.
The burger however—HUGE HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! For spending $11 for a burger—it had no flavor or taste and was certainly not worth it! The fries didn’t have much salt which I didn’t mind, but the burger flavor and taste really needs to be attended to here . I can’t say I’ll be back for a while or even recommend given this reason. I would much rather go to Five Guys if I’m going to spend this kind of money for a burger—at least there you know you’re getting a burger full of flavor and great tasting fries too.

Note: This review is from June 2020.

I am going to let these pictures speak for themselves. Rundown…

Access:
Easy to get to from the I-95, right off Optiz Boulevard. Plenty of parking out front.

Inside:
For this place to be brand new, I was shocked that the grout for the tiles were as filthy as they were. There was food on the floor behind the counter. Everything else looked good and clean.

Personnel:
I think seeing someone’s underwear who works at a restaurant is wrong. I didn’t see any hair nets. However, everyone did have on visors. I guess visors satisfy the health department’s minimum requirements for food safety. Everyone wore gloves, but only the cook changed his. His sous chef who prepped the burgers (the one with the exposed underwear) used her gloves to open boxes, prep food, etc. She never took them off and put on a new pair when she touched a different surface. No one did. Not even the owners. They went in the back, prepped salads, then prepped fries, then prepped shakes – all with the same pair of gloves.
You could easily spot the owners – a middle aged middle eastern couple (likely Indian) that worked alongside their team. I respect their hard work, so I hope they “hear” this feedback and do something about it, because with a few minor changes, I think this place could be a gem.

Customer Service:
Everyone was nice. Uber nice.
When I arrived, I asked if they had a delivery or pre-ordering service. This guy who walked in, in front of me, whispered that pre-ordering is not worth it, because he called ahead and he still had to wait a long time like I did. There was no benefit in calling ahead for your order.
They are slow. Snail slow.
The sous chef, bless her heart, screwed up my order. I noticed it and whispered to the sweet guy bagging the food about the error. He whispered to her. I actually left wondering if the sous chef can read, because she struggled a lot with simple things. The bagger helped her out a lot. I actually think he’d make a good supervisor. I recommend they rethink their process, because I think they’d be faster with fewer bodies behind the counter. This would avoid everyone tripping over each other.

Food:
Now to the most important thing.

French Fries – They used shredded cheese for their bacon and cheese french fries. Yes, folks. The french fries are not made to order. They pre-cook them and have them under this lamp. Yuck. So, they took pre-cooked french fries, sprinkled some stanky shredded cheese on top and returned them to the lamp. When I saw one of the owners sprinkle shredded cheese over them raggedy fries, I should have cancelled then. I should have really cancelled when the sous chef screwed up on my chicken sandwich. That’s just the fries, folks. There’s more.

Chicken Sandwich – The chicken sandwich has potential, but it was overcooked (see pics) and not seasoned. I could sprinkle a little salt and pepper on it, but why when I can just go to Chic-Fil-A or Popeyes for a properly seasoned and tasty chicken sandwich for less?

Salad – I was hungry when I arrived, so I ordered a salad, too. I totally threw my money away with this one. For this very large salad, they gave me 2 tablespoons worth of dressing. Literally.
I didn’t order a shake, but I watched them prepare them for the guy in front me and they looked yummy.

Price – I think I spent approximately $20 for a sandwich, fries and salad. These folks are a little pricier than your run-of-the-mill fast food restaurant.

Final Verdict:
Will I return? Likely not. You only get one chance at a first impression. Between the safety issues (exposed underwear, food on the floor, missing hair nets, etc.) plus the poor taste, I just think there are too many other worthy options in the area to try this place again.

My son and I went here for an early dinner (about 5pm). We were the only customers upon entering. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands, as burgers are meant to be eaten with your hands, but there was no soap. I told the staff. My son and I ordered our overpriced burger/chicken sandwich. I asked for no ranch on my chicken sandwich, but it came out with ranch. After we ordered, I thought I would use the women’s bathroom just to wash my hands. No soap. I let staff know. As we waited, I noticed trash on the tables and floor. That shouldn’t happen in a restaurant with little or no customers. After about 5 minutes, our meals were ready…but it was after about 7 that there was soap in the men’s room.

Two mediocre sandwiches + two orders of fries + two drinks = $39.

To start off I was very hungry today and wanted to have a good meal, but the service was a 4/10 at best. They weren’t paying attention until we spoke up and said we were ready. The food was absolutely terrible!no flavor on the burger and even the bacon cheese fries were stale.Ive ate better burgers and fries at McDonalds. The price was so high we ordered 2 burgers and a kids burger for 81 dollars!?Ive never had such a bad experience in a restaurant before. They say the burgers are fresh but by the time they got to us they were cold.We waited around 15-20 minutes.Dont come here and waste your money. The only okay thing was the milkshakes. This was such a horrible experience and we’ll never return.

Having your food made to order is always good but to have it made to order fast with friendly service always makes it that much better. The burgers are great and the chicken is juicy. The only bad thing is that I haven’t tried one of their milkshakes yet!
