But first let’s talk about ambience. Absolutely aesthetic – almost a piece of art. So well done, very beautifully done marine theme all around.
Our server was amazing too – very patient and explained the cusines and recommendations with very good knowledge.
Having said that – food ! I tried the lobster with eel sauce sushi and it was amazing. It was my first time trying out Octopus – to be honest I don’t know how I felt about it. Not my favourite. The black cod was amazing but the accompanying noodles and broth was about okayish. Maybe it is supposed to taste a bit bland but it wasn’t that flavourful. On the other hand the Chillean Sea Bass was exquisite and the addition of gnocchi on the side was very creative from the cook – appreciated the fine dining experience here.
And yep the place is pricey 🙂
Nicole’s handling of the situation was unprofessional, dismissive, and completely lacked basic hospitality. The way she spoke to our table was rude and unnecessary, and it immediately shifted the tone of the evening. For a restaurant of this caliber, that kind of management behavior is unacceptable and left a lasting negative impression.
That said, the food itself remains strong. The seafood tower was fresh and beautifully done. The spiny lobster was excellent, the steak was cooked perfectly, compliments to the chef, and the calamari was great. The sundae and key lime pie were also delicious and a solid way to end the meal.
This used to be our regular Friday spot, and I was planning to book the private room here for a birthday celebration. After my experience with Nicole, I will not be moving forward with that, and we will now be finding a new Friday restaurant.
The Water Grill clearly has talented chefs and a strong menu, but management interactions matter. One poor encounter can undo years of loyalty, and unfortunately, that is exactly what happened here.
From the moment we were seated, our server, Jesse, delivered a level of hospitality that transformed a wonderful meal into an unforgettable evening. His professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail were absolutely world class.
Jesse anticipated our needs before we even realized them, offering insightful recommendations that perfectly matched our tastes. Each suggestion felt personalized and spot on. His knowledge of the menu, wine pairings, and subtle flavor profiles was the mark of someone truly passionate about their craft.
What impressed us most, though, was the genuine care that Jesse put into every interaction. He struck that perfect balance of being attentive without ever feeling intrusive. Every question was answered with confidence and grace, and every detail down to the smallest nuance was handled flawlessly.
Jesse elevated the entire dining experience from excellent to extraordinary. His service alone is reason enough to return. A true gem in high end hospitality!
We recently enjoyed a relaxed lunchtime visit to Water Grill in Bellevue and left thoroughly impressed:
Atmosphere & Ambiance Walking in, the huge tanks stacked with live lobsters and crabs immediately caught our attention, it felt both striking and fresh, a nice visual touch before even tasting a bite.
Service The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. Even on a quiet weekday lunch, they made us feel well cared for and ensured our experience was seamless.
️ The Food
* My husband had the clam chowder and declared it “one of the best he’s ever had”, comforting, flavorful, and brimming with seafood.
* We both ordered the Margarita Verde cocktails: crisp, refreshing, and just the right balance of tang and warmth for a daytime drink.
* The grilled broccolini was a standout, beautifully charred with great texture and seasoning.
* The shrimp scampi was incredible: succulent shrimp swimming in buttery, garlic‑kissed sauce over pasta, absolutely delicious.
Parking & Location The bustling Lincoln Square area makes parking a challenge, but it’s not the restaurant’s doing. It’s a popular spot, so arrive prepared. Once inside, though, it’s peaceful and comfortable.
Would We Return? Absolutely. From the vibrant seafood tanks to the attentive staff and superlative dishes, especially that clam chowder and scampi, we’d happily come back again for a leisurely lunch.
Summary: A great mid‑day seafood experience with memorable flavors, friendly service, and a standout ambiance. Just plan ahead for parking!
We discovered water grill a few weeks back. In our opinion, they have some of the best seafood around. The bar is pretty cool too, all topped with shiny copper. They have a great selection of fresh oysters and creative dishes like the Sable fish.
Try water Grill. We think you’re gonna like it.
