This might be the best Japanese restaurant in the Waterloo region. The sushi and sashimi are in high quality and really fresh and the service is on point. It won’t take long for meals to be served and all the food is very decent. For a dinner with higher pricing but with the quality, I would gladly pay up. (This restaurant does not take reservations so come early to avoid wait time)

I have been to this restaurant twice, once alone and once with a friend. The overall dining experiences were both very pleasant, the waiters were all very welcoming, and the food was all very fine and tasty. Arguably the best not all-you-can-eat Japanese restaurant in Waterloo. All of the meals in the pictures are something to consider trying, with the most recommended being the grilled pork. The downside is that there are fewer seats in the store, and given the popularity of this restaurant, queuing up for meals at meal times should be expected.

The sashimi here tasted very fresh and the fish bowl had a decent variety of fish. The baked scallop was very creative and quite tasty but I thought it was quite expensive considering the sizes of the scallops and that the rest of the ingredients don’t seem very expensive. We also got the Watami on King Roll which was just okay in my opinion. The sashimi topping tasted fishy and the roll was not thing special.

Overall, the vibes are quite nice and the fish seems pretty good quality. The rolls are quite interesting and unique. For the quality of the fish I would say the price is fair but slightly on the high end.

Simply the best! I have been coming to Watami for years, and it still remains my favourite sushi spot in the area. I celebrated my birthday here tonight (as I have been doing for the past 3 years) and I had the most perfect dinner! Food was great as always (Chicken Karaage, Watami on King, Jade Roll are favourites), but the staff were even more amazing! They stored a full sized cake in the fridge for me, and brought it out with a lighter for the candle, plates, knives, etc. Such a special experience and I can’t wait to celebrate here again next year!! Thank you xx

Have to say i was very disappointed in this experience. Staff ignored us upon entering the restaurant, and were not attentive throughout the meal as well, and seemed distracted and confused when we spoke to them. I ordered the salmon don which was over $25- for this price I expected a larger portion size and better quality fish than what i received. To top it off, our table of 5 was charged a service charge- while this may be restaurant policy, I’ve never been charged service charge for under a group of 6. Ended up paying $50 for this disappointing experience.

The food is authentic, delicious, and amazingly presented. The kitchen staff are wildly talented and the wait staff (and I believe the owner or manager) are very polite. The price is on par with the quality that you’re receiving – which isn’t a bad thing. For two special rolls (outstanding), a main, two appetizers, and two 500mL Sapporos it was about $90. The location is nice and well-decorated, but slightly crowded. Don’t let that deter you though because they do wonders with the space that they are given. Definitely will be coming back!

Experience the divine flavors of sushi paradise right here in Waterloo! This hidden treasure swiftly claimed its spot among my top three sushi spots, and I can assure you, the 45-minute journey was well worth it.

Step into a snug haven exuding the perfect blend of charm and atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, prepare to embark on an unforgettable culinary voyage.

Be ready to feast like royalty. We couldn’t resist ordering an array of dishes for two, and each bite was a revelation. The Ice & Fire Roll delighted our taste buds with its crispy tempura and warm sushi fusion, while the Baked Scallop Roll emerged as the standout favorite. Trust me, one won’t be enough!

Seeking a healthier option? The Jade Roll offers a refreshing treat, combining crisp cucumber with luscious salmon. And for those craving indulgence, the Salmon Oshizushi delivers perfection with its torched salmon goodness.

But the culinary journey doesn’t stop there. The Watami on King Roll is a surefire crowd-pleaser, leaving us yearning for more with every mouthful.

And let’s not overlook the perfect finale to our dining experience – Ginger tea unlike any other. With its invigorating blend of lemon and spicy ginger, it’s a taste sensation like no other.

While it may come with a slightly higher price tag, believe me, every penny is worth it. Don’t miss out on the heavenly delight of scallop sushi – it’s an experience you won’t soon forget.

Never disappointed at Watami Sushi. Great food, attentive waitresses and the House Blend Tea was delicious too. Always a great experience.

I ordered the grilled pork and the chicken don, and both were a disappointment. The grilled pork was bitter — not smoky, just harsh and overcooked. chicken don was overly sweet, like it was drenched in sugar. Really expected better quality and taste from this place. Won’t be coming back.
