I can’t believe I still even gave them a tip.. All of their sushi or sashimi is old, sitting under plastic wrap waiting on the next customer. Gross. Not only that. I decided to try it out so I waited on my sushi and when I got it, it was nothing but rice and veggies. Same thing with my girlfriends roll.. too expensive to come back for rice and not sushi. I’ll never be coming back.. The only reason why I’ll never come back is because they didn’t give me a refund. I didn’t eat my food, even after the refusal. Still made me pay or they would have me prosecuted, God Bless. These are not the kind of people you want to work with or eat with.

I must admit, as much as I like to do reviews. I kind of feel guilty for telling people about this place. I know it may seem like another Hibachi Sushi place, but there is a sushi chef here named Vam that will absolutely take care of you. He knows what to recommend and will perform magic right in front of you. Besides an impressive Sushi list, they also have some amazing appetizers and main dishes. I highly highly recommend the tempura vegetables and the quail egg shots with your rolls. Make sure you also get some sake to go along with your experience that the staff will serve you with

Used to go here all the time. Was served rotten fish today and they refused to refund me after I took one bite. They claimed “we dont know what you like,” Waitress said it was her second day and continued to insult us saying this is a small business and they don’t have money like big businesses to take hits like that. I’d be more worried about getting shut down for health code violations after making people sick than someone letting you know something isn’t good and make a point to inspect what you are serving. I know a man that used to work or co-own this place and he had moved to his own location in parkville. He was so nice and made really good sushi! Wasahi is doomed! Never coming back

This is Kansas City’s best hibachi grill in the Northland. Wasahi has always placed quality of their food as their priority.
I’ve tried other hibachi places near the MCI airport off of I-29 and Barry Road locations, but flavor wise, this is the top place.
I strongly recommend for date nights, friends catching up, small celebrations and parties.
Best thing is their staff doesn’t change very much, so they’ll remember you. Great refreshment prices and wonderful sushi options too.

Service was great, we were seated expeditiously and my Bloody Mary was brought within minutes. Their foreign beer selection was also great and delicious. Steak was ordered at medium well and well I can say it was delivered. Chicken was also tender and my sisters raves about the sauce in which is was marinated. All in all we had a great time here celebrating my sister’s birthday even though we did not catch the shrimp with our mouths we much appreciated the show.

Small Japanese hibachi restaurant with table side cooking. They offer a kids menu, which was a perk for us! Soup and salad didn’t taste great. We were expecting miso soup but it tasted like diluted chicken bouillon with raw mushrooms and noodles. The salad was drenched in dressing. The food prepared table side, however, is VERY good with an amazing price point. It’s so much food! You will go home with leftovers unless you’re eating after running a marathon.

The chef really entertained the kids. We had a great time.

Honestly? Not good. We got takeout hibachi and sushi… I picked up very promptly so that’s not the reason for this review. Portion size was good but the meat was dry and chewy with no flavor. The rice was completely dried out… my wife and I couldn’t finish it. We won’t be going back.

We got there an hour before closing due to a late flight into KC.
Staff was very friendly and the food was amazing! We had Steak & Shrimp combos and an amazing egg roll as well! We will be back next time we are in the northland!

An above and beyond customer service experience with the negligibly above-average sushi. The highlight of the Wasahi is hands down, their hibachi grill. Their chefs entertained the entire restaurant with vibrant tricks and humorous antics. From a food perspective, the sushi quality will satisfy the average consumers, but not sushi enthusiasts. On the bright side, all the appetizers are moderately cheap, and their rolls prices are on par with the market. The fish/meat quality is pretty good; there were some inconsistent wrap quality and tightness, though. Overall, the experience was adequate and satisfied my sushi craving.
