Once you get past it being kind of dark in there, which does kind of help to set the mood, and only 1 table in each of the street facing windows (which smaller parties are encouraged to NOT eat at), you’re in for a real treat. The servers usually greet you with a smile and try to help make your experience an enjoyable one. It helps, too, that their prices are fairly reasonable. They have a nice selection of food items to choose from, different even and bigger than some of the other Japanese restaurants that I’ve been to before. Their bento boxes are what I will now recommend for people to go with, especially when eating there for the first time. The boxes give a tasty and ample sized sample of their various foods-from the appetizer, to the choice of soup or salad ($1,50 extra and you can have both), a smaller version of their chosen entrée, perhaps a 6 piece version of a sushi roll, some rice, and a chosen fresh fruit. I got one during my most recent visit for the first time, my approximately 4th or 5th time in being there, and it was DIVINE. The presentation of it was lovely. Gyoza turned out to be truly appetizing; I’d never had it before. Something different was happening with the miso soup and I really liked it; I just couldn’t decide what the difference was. The ginger salad definitely did not disappoint me either-simple yet so good. Fried rice, always a nice accompaniment. It just kept going and going, the deliciousness. Shrimp tempura rolls are my ultimate favorite and that was the choice for the special that day, which helped to make my decision easier. The dipping sauce had some sliced scallions and these little crunchy things in there and my taste buds were delighted. Next, came the teriyaki chicken and broccoli. There was an additional sauce on there, unlike any I had partaken of before. I knew that I was eating chicken and broccoli but it made me think of the tastes of turkey and gravy at Thanksgiving time. My eyes were practically rolling into the back of my head; it was that flavorful. Then, to complete the meal and leave on such a good note, there was the fresh pineapple. Let me say that again-fresh pineapple. It was perfectly chilled and to my liking as well. (Prior to the box arriving, I had ordered some of their Dang Bang Shrim0 p pp. Honestly, I didn’t know how much they’d have to offer with the bento box, so I ordered that as well. I needn’t have but I’m still glad that I did, as I’d never had that before either. They brought out some sriracha sauce to add to it, seeing as to how I like things a bit spicy. That made for a palatable combination. I just thought I’d put that out there for you.) Anybody leaving there hungry, it’s their own fault, that’s for sure. Maybe next time, I’ll finally get to try out one of their desserts, especially now that ice cream season is upon us. Whatever you choose, enjoy!

Absolutely stellar service, and the rolls were very big and delicious. Best sushi in Monacan/Powhatan Territory (“VA”), and I thought I would never say this, but I would choose their sushi over many Lenape territory (“NYC”) spots due to the size and how good it was (most rolls up in Lenape are small pieces). Spring rolls are also big and delicious. I would have more pictures but the food was too good

Have not been here in almost two years so I decided to come back because I was downtown and wanted something close. I remember now why I LOVE this place! The staff is super friendly and the restaurant is nice and clean. They were very busy for a Wednesday night but our food came out fast and it was delicious! Loved the cold Tofu appetizer, and all the sushi and sashimi was very fresh. And the Sumo Roll was to die for! Great place great food! ❤️

Arguably, the best sushi restaurant in Roanoke. Atmosphere is fine but not notable. If they have a weakness, it’s service. Everyone is very friendly but not always the most attentive. Not enough to move them off 5 stars overall. Sumo roll is delicious and a great introduction for those unsure about ‘sushi’.

Stopped in for a quick lunch about 2pm and they close at 2:30pm and reopen for dinner. I never felt rushed and the quality of the food was of the highest standards as always. This is my only stop for sushi in Roanoke. I will be returning soon

Cozy little sushi joint with incredible sushi and sides! Honestly, some of the best I have ever had. We came in with 5 adults and a baby on a busy afternoon and we were seated almost immediately. The beer was cold, the service was fast and the fish was fresh. Will have to stop by here again when we are back in town.

Food was good (except the teriyaki chicken, that was incredibly bland), but it took an entire hour for us to get it. We were told about 40 minutes and when we returned about 38 minutes later the staff was rude and said we got back too early. After another 25 minutes we finally got our food. Not worth it, wouldn’t really recommend. (No apology or something extra for taking so long either!)

Generous portions of high quality sushi. I also had the Sumo Roll and it was pretty good. Just be advised that the Sumo isn’t sushi per se. it’s cooked, warm, and lots of sauce. My pix are from when I got my pick up order home.
