I went to Wasabi for the first time yesterday for lunch. I was accompanied by a Japanese friend who recommended the place to me for its genuine authenticity. Initially, I had my reservations because I’m not a huge fan of fresh fish. However, I was completely blown away!
Everything was absolutely delicious. You can tell the care that goes into the dishes—the selection of ingredients, the technique, everything.
The venue itself is simple but warm and inviting. The service was fabulous! The person who waited on us was very kind and happy to explain dishes or make suggestions.
This is definitely a place I could see myself coming back to every week. It is well worth taking the time to travel to this town just to enjoy authentic and delicious Japanese food.

Been going here ever since it opened almost 30 years ago. It was great back then, even better now with its rustic, hole in the wall feel. Food is authentic and always fresh. I grew up in Japan; Wasabi is as authentic as it gets. Service is also like Japan. You can choose your own table and don’t have to wait for your specific server. Catch any server near you and get what you need. Great place alone or with others. BYOB. Highly recommend.

I’ve been here a few times and it’s my go to for affordable, great tasting sushi. The selection of fish is outstanding and highly recommend getting the omakase. The Bento boxes are a great choice too.

Uniformly excellent. Among the best Japanese I have had in NJ. The tempura was excellent – piping hot, well cooked, and not greasy. The miso soup was delicious. The various kinds of tuna sashimi were really tasty and fresh, as was the hand roll. It is very reasonably priced for what it is. It is BYOB, so I brought a bottle of saki that cost as much as the food for 2 had. We will definitely be back.

Good food, not the best sushi we’ve ever had but decent for a local authentic Japanese restaurant. We loved the fried tofu appetizer and mochi ice cream. Very good service, enjoyed our night.

Little bit outside of Ridgewood downtown area, this restaurant is located in a beautiful garden area, with their own parking lot. The inside of the restaurant appears old and under maintained.
But their has lots of goodies, sushi, sashimi, udon, katsu, all of them either in combos or individual dishes. I loved the spider and dragon rolls. They were large pieces, rice was soft, they were well made. Got the chicken karaage combo as well. Chicken was little over fried to my liking. Miso soup and rice bowl were good. The combo plate had lots of chicken, easily shareable between two.
Service is pretty good. We didn’t have to wait long to order or to get our food. Overall we had a nice weekend lunch, but not impressive enough for a return.

A cozy family style Japanese restaurant near our church. Their lunch sets are very good. Chirashi bowl is my go to in the summer times. Gyudon (beef rice bowl) is recommended as well. Environment is quiet and good for conversation.

We have been coming at Wasabi for many years. We love the place: small and cozy, great, friendly, and prompt service. Great fresh food, with ample variety. We were never disappointed.

It was a very good Japanese family restaurant. The food was quick to arrive and the quality and taste were amazing. Our server was a little distracted and slow but he might be having a bad day. Overall it was good.
