There’s also a nice selection of cocktails, with the Spicy Margarita being particularly good. As with other smaller restaurants, it can be hard to hear at times if you’re next to a loud group. But otherwise it was a great experience and we plan to come back again.
I particularly recommend the Xinjiang lamb, the fried chicken, and the mushroom woodear salad. The sauces are fantastic.
There is also a reasonable beer selection, including draught from Left Hand Giant brewery.
It wasn’t cheap, at around £40 per person, but it did feel worth it.
The menu is quite small, all shareable plates, won’t take too long to decide what to order.
Recommended about 6 plates per 2 people which was definitely great amount of food.
The cocktails served are with an Asian twist, interesting and tasty.
The service was great, bubbly and friendly staff.
The food? Yes! Every single dish had so much flavour that it was addictive! I can’t really say that there was a dish that we shouldn’t have ordered or regretted ordering.
The staff? They were extremely kind at all times! All of them! They made sure we felt like we had everything we needed and more! Zero complaints when it comes to the staff!
Now, why a 4 star? Not sure if this is our fault too but we knew the food would be amazing so we came to the restaurant hungry!
Tip number 1: if you don’t want to break the bank don’t arrive extra hungry! Why do I say that? Well although the plates tasted amazing, the portions were extremely small compared to the price! For example, the Pork Belly? That was such a good dish, we ended up ordering a total of three of them and we were only 5 people. That’s £15 per plate. Rice? We had 4 bowls (very small portions) those were £4.5 each. The cantonese soy chicken thigh? We had two of those, £14 each! The Pan Fried Cake? Two of those two @£8.5! This keeps going. We spent £50 per person!
Tips if you are visiting? Eat a proper lunch so you can have a light dinner. If money is no issue, then make sure you order 2 plates of everything if there is two of you! Sharing or not… as one plate between two people isn’t enough.
Lastly; the kitchen are doing their best to bring out the food but can’t keep up, resulting in us waiting for a long time between dishes which isn’t ideal (especially considering their portion). Worth mentioning that the staff did apologise about the delay between foods and have acknowledged it.
Definitely worth visiting, but with those prices and portions sadly we can’t be visiting anytime soon.
Unusual and interesting flavours, very original. They encourage you to get a few sharing plates, and I think this works really well as you get to try all of the varied creations. None of them disappointed!
Particularly like the prawn and pork Wontons with Wang’s signature chilli oil, but even that pales in comparison to the sous-vide pork belly in plum sauce, which was out of this world.
