Reviews
All of the dishes were delicious and full of flavour. One small downside this time was the dessert. The mango sticky rice and durian sticky rice weren’t quite on point compared to our last visit, where they were great.
The waiters were very friendly and attentive throughout the meal. I highly recommend trying the pork jowl dish, it was absolutely delicious. Overall, another great experience and we will definitely be coming back for a third visit!
Restaurant interior is nicely decorated. I will say it’s a bit of a tight spot in some areas, so hopefully you’re not carrying a lot. But there are hooks to hang your stuff as well.
Service was fairly prompt. We were sat quickly, water came out quick, as did the appetizers. To start out, got skewers, fried tofu, and the fried mini shrimp. Everything tasted great! My favourite was the beef skewers. I was pleasantly surprised that the meat wasn’t chewy like some other places I’ve been too. The fried tofu had a really nice crunch, so if you like that, it’s a good dish.
For mains, got a few at the table. For myself, the chicken ga prao was what I had ordered. Ordered medium spicy, and can say that I could have used more, but always hard to gauge at a Thai place what their spice levels are. The dish itself tasted pretty good, though I think I preferred the soup that my friend got (think it was pad soi). The soup had a kick, but was very balanced with the coconut milk in the soup.
For dessert, the table tried the mango coconut sticky rice dish, ube ice cream, and the Pandan coconut icecream. The ube had a good flavour, but was fairly well frozen and a bit hard to eat right away. The coconut mango sticky rice cake dish, it tasted really good. The only drawback here is that mangoes aren’t in season, and it was a bit more sour than sweet. For the coconut Pandan, it was very light and I loved the texture of the add-ons (Pandan jelly noodles, taro, and corn) and the coconut syrup itself. Would probably say this dish isn’t for everyone though, as it is lighter in flavour than any of the other desserts.
Overall, I loved the food here. There was a slight issue with the order and the bill, but the store owner did chat with me and we were able to fix it (same day – so quick response).
Wang Lang absolutely delivered. We ordered the oxtail soup, frog legs, fried baby shrimp, and the mackerel wrap set, every single dish was packed with flavour and zero hesitation. The oxtail soup was rich and comforting, the frog legs were crispy and addictive, the baby shrimp were tiny crunchy miracles, and the mackerel wrap set felt like a full DIY adventure that somehow made me feel like a better person.
The cocktails, Wat Arun and the Maharaji, were refreshing, sweet, and way too easy to drink. Highly dangerous, highly recommended.
Ambience? Unreal. They were blasting early-2000s pop like it was a throwback party. Spice Girls, Usher, Backstreet Boys… every bite tasted 20% better because I was reliving Grade 9.
We ended with mango sticky rice and coconut ice cream — both classic, simple, perfect, and the exact level of mild sweetness you want after spicy, bold food.
Overall, amazing food, amazing vibes, amazing playlist. Would absolutely come back and probably sing along louder next time.
My first ride with boat noodles certainly won’t be the last one. Bringing a wonderful wagyu twist on traditional boat noodles, the savory broth is an unforgettable blend of pho-like spices such as cinnamon and star anise, but with deeper, bolder beef flavour. The use of potato starch noodles is also welcomed, prized for its addictive chewy and smooth texture. The slices of wagyu add a luxurious touch, with a surprisingly tender texture despite its lean cross-section. The perfect pairing with these noods is a pomelo salad that is refreshingly sweet, sour, spicy and fragrant. Bursting with sweetness, the perfectly ripe pomelo is tossed with a savory chilli oil dressing and dried shrimp that also explode with umami. The complexity of each bite keeps growing with the roasted peanuts, cashews, onions, coconut shreds and lemongrass to boost its texture and fragrance even more. For a bowl of comforting flavours that blends the fragrance of curry paste and creamy coconut milk, the khao soi is an easy choice. The touch of spice stimulates your taste buds, allowing you to fully savour salivating broth as it’s transported by the duo of al dente and crispy fried egg noodles. The chicken drumstick is tender and moist, and is screaming to be dipped in the outstanding chilli crisp. Honestly, I want to buy a whole jar of this stuff. For a suitably not-too-sweet dessert to end our Thai meal, with soft, gooey grilled rice cakes with a rich coconut milk aroma and subtle saltiness, that contrasts the sweet coconut cream, tangy mango, nutty sesame seeds and glutinous sticky rice.
The fried baby shrimp was one of our favorite for the dinner. It was super crispy with a texture that’s always satisfying. They were out of the stuffed squid but the new grilled squid dish was nice as well. It was grilled perfectly, even the tentacle part. And the sauce had a hint of spiciness that adds to the flavor nicely.
And lastly, the ube ice cream was quite large in size! The sweetness was balanced and we truly enjoyed it.
We got:
• Soob Hang Wua (oxtail soup)
• Goong Pae (baby shrimp fritters)
• Kob Tod Prik Gluer (frog legs): a perfectly fried, coated in flavour dish, and the fragrance alone had me wanting to eat right away instead of letting my phone eat first (iykyk).
✨ Miang Saba (the whole mackerel dish): it was my favourite of the night. The fish itself is beautifully seasoned, and even without the dipping sauce, it tastes amazing on its own.
• Coconut Pandan Ice Cream
• Kanom Krok Mango Sticky Rice
And if you don’t know what to order, they also have chef’s selected menus for two people or for bigger groups. Super helpful. You can also join their Loyalty Club to collect points and enjoy exclusive offers
Service is still amazing. The staff checked on us constantly even when it was a busy night for them.
Update: went back and quality went down. Going to give it another chance but seems like it varies sometimes. I went on a weekday this second time so maybe that contributed.
