Off the chain BBQ! Everything I’ve had is awesome! I know why Texas Monthly picked them One of top fifty BBQ restaurants in Texas ! It’s so good! Owner and staff are the nicest of people. Place is really nice. It’s worth making a trip if you’re not close by.

Loved this place, we had a little bit of everything and it was DELICIOUS!!! It was our first time coming here, but it won’t be the last. On Saturday and Sunday they have the giant ribs for $20/pound, which 1 rib hits the 1lb mark but it sure is worth it. The chicken is just perfect, moist and tasty! Here are some pictures to make your mouth water.

Smoking Oak was great! Ordered the brisket burger. The meat was moist, tender and delicious! If you see the pic the meat had a nice smoke ring….came back more recently… Thursday during lunch. Ordered chicken, ribs and brisket. All three meats were served in short order, all meats were delicious!

I arrived after 5:00pm on a week day and NO ONE was around. It thought that they had sold out until someone told me that they had opened for dinner. The place was absolutely empty and no one waiting for food. I knew I was in trouble: a BBQ place with no line is a warning sign. True to form, the food wasn’t something to rave about. The pork ribs were a definite pass. They were smothered with sauce to make up for other challenges. The brisket was slightly better. The beans tasted good, so there was that. The creamed corn broke my rule that I’ve never found creamed corn that I didn’t like. Maybe it’s better for lunch. I recommend trying it during a weekend or lunch, but this wasn’t for me.

This was my first time here. My girlfriend has been here before and she loved it, so she took me here for the first time. The brisket was delicious and tender. The ribs were really flavorful. We also split sides of potato salad, scalloped potatoes, baked beans, and macaroni and cheese. The place seats a lot of people and I can tell it can fill up because of how good the food is. I think the sign out front tells it best in the hours of operation. They are only open Thursday – Sunday from 11:00AM to 4:00PM or untill food runs out.

We drove 8 hours and The Smoking Oak was our 4th BBQ stop of the trip. It was a pleasant surprise! The lean brisket was moist and way to pull apart. The pork ribs were easy to pull off the home but didn’t just fall off which is the way I like it. The sausage was moist, the skin had a bit of a snap, and I really liked the texture. We had the cream corn and mac & cheese as sides which I enjoyed as well. A very pleasant experience all the way around as the owner and his staff were polite and helpful. Don’t pass this stuff up!

They give you good portions for what you are paying for. The brisket was pretty good. I liked the pork ribs even better. The sides were OK; nothing special. It’s pretty clean inside and the food tasted fresh. Their is plenty of seating available. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed and the service was very good. It’s worth giving it a shot.

My girlfriend and I split half a pound of moist brisket, two sausage links, two pork ribs, a half bird & cream corn… The staff is extremely helpful and polite, good training by management. Dinning area was extremely clean, and well organized. Brisket was cooked to well w/ hints of oak, I just needed a pinch of salt for my personal taste. Sausage was juicy and savory, reminded me of Opas. I’m not one for sides when it come to BBQ, but we just had to try the cream corn, and I’m glad we did! The rub used for the chicken & pork ribs is outstanding! You gets hints of onion, garlic, the oak smoke and it finishes on the palate w/ hints of sweetness…

Food: Overall brisket was decent. Had a large brisket sandwich. Did like how I was able to get my desired amount of sandwich dressings of pickles and onions. Taste was bit salty since i got majority of the bark but was still pleased. Portion size was that of a Whataburger.
Price: Alright for the $9.49. Arrived an hour an a half before closing and everything was out! No sides, just chips. Word of advice, arrive early before they close or run out of food as they would close early. Really disappointed that they had run out of options an 1hr 1/2 before closing. Would like to give this place another chance however, it has huge potential.
