The Wandering Whistler Cafe is an excellent addition to downtown Effingham! They have a large library of board games to play while youre visiting, bar menu, mocktails, coffee/tea, small plates, and board games for sale. It’s a unique place to hang out and have fun.

From the time you step in the staff does a tremendous job at making you feel welcome. The atmosphere is very laid back and relaxed which is perfect for playing a board game.
There’s a seasonal cocktail menu, and I highly reccomend giving it a shot. The cocktails are crafted with care, and are high quality. I’m picky about my cocktails, but they nailed it!
Additionally there are options for small plates, and we chose one of their charcuterie boards. Everything was fresh, and it’s perfect for sharing!

Wings are the third best I’ve ever had. Incredibly tender. Smoke ring was immaculate. Best part… LESS THAN $1 PER WING!!
Only problem is that spice is lacking on buffalo.
Fries stayed crispy.
Smoked Mac is better than I’ve had at most BBQ restaurants.
Overall gas as heck.

I went there. Had a one star experience. The owner is trying to censor me. He did have the police call me and tell me I’m not allowed there again. I laughed with the very friendly police officer and said I would never go there again because that place is, well, go there and you’ll understand. But I wouldnt suggest wasting your time.

Great service and the atmosphere an location are superb excellent choices of drinks wines and mixed drinks 4 of us split the Hunter board 5 each different varieties of wings 2 orders of burnt ends 4 varieties of sliders 3 cocktails 1 coffee and we were all very well pleased and full what a great unique place to meet friends and hangout
