First time visiting of the Ex-Star News building. Love the Double Americano but bit strong for me. Burrito with steak was savory and great combination with pickled onions and peppers.

Good but burrito was so small. I paid over $20 for the tiniest burrito of my life! blah blah blah gluten free wraps are tinier I KNOW, but when u are charged more for them yet way less fits into them … seems like maybe a little price cut would make sense ? maybe I’M the sucker. I’ll probably go back. But size matters

I am visiting from out of town and I noticed a love/hate relationship from the reviews. I decided to give it a try. The bacon burrito was delicious with plenty of crunchy bacon, cheese, egg, and avocado. It tasted fresh and made to order. I would definitely recommend it. There are many comments about the prices. This place does not ask for tips (refreshing) and the price includes the food and the service. For about $20 (in California), they are not a “value meal”, they are a quality meal. Don’t let the negative comments sway you.

Order the bacon burrito, add steak (must have) and pickled jalapeños! Thank me later! I moved to LA 5 years ago and wake and late was the first breakfast burrito I ever had here. It was amazing then and to this day it is still amazing. There used to only be a location downtown La but they have expanded a lot and now have locations in Hollywood, Pasadena, and I believe they are expanding to Marina Del Rey, and West Hollywood. I have tasted all of the locations and the taste, flavors and experience is consistent. Today’s experience at the Pasadena location stood out above all. I dined in and Bruce Lee let me try their fresh bagels and cream cheese it is now a must add to my order going forward! The bagel almost tasted like an Auntie Ann’s pretzel but the honeycomb cream cheese was the star of the show! Not too sweet but very tasty! We also got the fresh orange juice and the iced matcha which are very good but the price of drinks is around $7. While people complain about the overall price and portion size of the food I think the taste is well worth the price and I’ve never been able to finish my whole burrito in one sitting by myself it is very filling! I don’t think the drinks are worth the price but they are good. I also got the cinnamon roll to try it, it was flaky and buttery like a croissant but you can probably pass on that. It’s good if you really are in the mood for it but it may be a little overwhelming. Overall I hate seeing people do “Top burrito in La” videos and not having Wake and Late as #1. Those other burrito’s may have lower price but I tried them all and they are disappointing comparatively. I know for a fact you won’t find a better burrito in La! It’s consistently delicious!

A vegetarian burrito (cheapest option) and an oat latte will set you back $20, tip included. The prices include trip but are pretty high considering the small portions. The burrito is very small as well as the coffee. In fact I have never gotten such a small iced coffee anywhere else.
The burrito is very tasty though and the tortilla tastes better than at any other place. The coffe is just ok… I would definitely not come here for the coffe.
The building is really cool on the inside and has great potential to be amazing. Right now it is too sparse.

I’ve been coming to this location since they opened! Super nice staff and burritos and bagels are some of the best I’ve ever had. Our fav order is steak burrito and the parm and sweet onion bagel. Yes, it’s a bit pricey but I think the food and service are worth it!! Will be going back again and again. My only complaint is that we miss the chocolate bagel and strawberry dip!! I also want to get that Orange Julius from Eeeeeatscon again too!

I was really excited to try this place, breakfast burritos are my favorite. The burrito tasted great but the portion was smaller than expected, and customization options were limited. The biggest letdown was the atmosphere: zero personality, very whitewashed, grab-and-go vibes. Total renter’s special. It completely killed the experience. This isn’t a brunch spot or a place for groups, strictly pick up and leave.

I just wanted something quick to eat so I thought to order a bagel. Much to my surprise I was told you the owner has a two bagel minimum policy! This is my first time ever experiencing that, it doesn’t make any sense to me since I only want one bagel. So I had to pay $7 for a bagel with cream cheeses. With an ice chai we spent $24. That’s simply crazy.
The atmosphere is really weird. The place is huge, but it’s they have tiny outdoor tables with mismatch chairs. Loud house music more fit for a gym than a restaurant.
All the employees were really nice but sort of just standing around talking to each other. I was in a rush and I will tell you this is not a place that rushes!

Saw a line outside a few weeks ago and wanted to check this spot out. This spot has some of the best breakfast burritos.
I ordered their bacon breakfast burrito and it was just the right size/portion. Definitely enough to fill you up but not too much. For their rip and tear bagels I ordered three dips. The cinnabutter, strawberry, & Lox. All three dips were excellent and had their own delicious/distinct flavor. I loved the cinnabutter but the strawberry was also pretty good too.
I’d definitely come back to try their other flavors and breakfast burritos. Parking is limited to street and the seating is limited to just right outside their restaurant.

I had their steak breakfast burrito and it was delicious. It was the right portion, the flavors were great and it was cooked just right. Perfect for a great morning.

These are really good, high quality breakfast burritos. They are not your typical oversized burritos, so if you’re looking for that don’t come here.
Yes, they are expensive but you can taste the quality ingredients and they are not greasy at all. The packaging is super cute and you have a couple options for sauces.
I got the steak (carne asada) burrito with the cilantro cream and it’s so good!! Definitely a splurge, but well worth it.
I ordered via the Toast app and walked in to pick up. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. Very large open air space that has plenty of tables if you want to dine-in as well.
Happy they’re in the neighborhood!
