This is a serious cross-contamination risk. My wife is pregnant, and we cannot take chances with unsafe and careless food handling. We left immediately. Food safety matters, and this kind of negligence can seriously harm people.
We weren’t greeted upon entering but whatever, not a big deal. We then went unacknowledged for 10-15 minutes while the lady who would be out waitress finished dishes. Okay, fine. She did not wash her hands before approaching the table, only dried them with a paper towel. After ordering, she proceeded to tell the man cooking to cook all the hashbrowns the same, despite one person ordering their’s cooked light. None of them could have been considered ‘cook light’ when brought to the table. None of that sounds too bad on its own, right?
I had a clear view of the waffle making station and I watched her plate our food with money in her hand. I’ve worked years in food service and this is so gross. You are required to wash your hands after handling money because of dirty money is and it was literally touching the bottoms of all of our plates. Then she carried the plates outs with the bottom of one plate touching the top of a waffle. And when she carried our food out, the plate was against her body and her apron was touching the toast. After the plates were slid across the table, there was something smeared across the tabletop that was not there when we sat down, meaning it had been on the bottom of one of my plates. Oh, and when one of our forks was placed on the table crusty and very visibly dirty, the waitress laughed about it and casually said “it happens around here.” Excuse me, what?! She didn’t even wash her hands after going out to smoke…
I wish this was made up. The whole experience was so bad and the people hanging around were so sketchy that we quickly and quieted finished our food and took our overcooked waffles to-go.
Appalling.
