I went to Waffle House today with my family hoping for a peaceful morning and a good breakfast — something I’ve always enjoyed. I usually order the Texas Bacon Cheese Steak Melt Plate, and it’s always been great. But today was completely different.
First, my order came covered in jalapeños instead of a couple pickles. I never order jalapeños — and it wasn’t just a small mistake. There was an **excessive amount of jalapeños** all over my food, making it impossible to enjoy.
Mistakes can happen, but what really shocked me was witnessing two employees arguing loudly with each other during service. It’s impossible for a restaurant to run well when the work environment is that toxic. How can the cook focus on preparing food while arguing with another staff member?
I’ve been going to Waffle House since 2021, ever since I moved to the U.S., and I always speak highly of the chain. Every other location has been great — except this one in **Clayton**. Unfortunately, the management here seems completely unprepared to train and lead the team properly. The atmosphere was tense, the food was poorly made, and the entire experience was disappointing.
I walked in calm and happy, and left irritated and upset. That’s not what breakfast is supposed to feel like. I’ll keep going to Waffle House — but I’ll never come back to this location again.

Love this location. Went to a late show the other nite, driving home I was in the mood for egg, cheese, bacon and home fries bowl. Pulled in, place was busy and I sat at the counter. Great server. Order came up a few minutes later. Perfect in every way. Delicious. Going back tomorrow. Thanks

Arrived at 7:15pm today on a sunday . It wasnt much crowded after a snow day . I counted at least 7 people dining in , and i cant believe i had the patience not to lose my cool. The black african american girl and the male one were right at the counter texting while two cooks were preparing & giving out food. I think not even once did they offer me a menu or a coffe/drink . I dont think im coming to this place . I left the restaurant at around 7:50pm .

Give credit where credit is due normally not bad other than you can order the exact same food everyday and the price changes each time. So New Year’s day get up go to the track start off good. Then go to the Waffle House which as stated normally is good. But not today. We eat low carb so eggs and bacon only. We get water coffee black. My first cup of water had a whitish color glob all over the side of it as if someone sick coughing or sneezing on it. Very distinctive not cleaning item for sure. Send it back then get the second glass of water. Lots of items floating in the bottom of this cup. We point it out to our waiter. He gets upset. I tell him just keep the water. Then our food comes out. We are enjoying it until we get to the bottom of the bacon on the bottom was something really raw looking like chicken or ham. Anyway not good service today. Will be coming back hopefully different crew working next time. I like Waffle house but today’s crew way off then acting mad because I didn’t want to drink from cups that obviously was extremely dirty.

Food was burnt and overall service was poor, the waitress took our order (which included two juices that never came) and after brining the food out immediately went to smoke a cigarette. Food came out and toast was burnt, hash brown burnt and the waitress was outside smoking instead of checking with us to see if we needed anything else. Needless to say, won’t be coming to this location again.

I’m at the Waffle House in Clayton, NC. I usually don’t trip because…it’s Waffle House. But Wilma is a problem. She was huffing and puffing, taking orders wrong for every table in here, and then complaining when anyone tried to correct her.
She brought me grits for the third time, and this batch had hair in it — hers. I told her not to worry about it, and she still left them on the table anyway.
The rest of the food was fantastic, so shout out to the cook. But this lady is absolutely out of pocket.

My husband and I were in the Clayton location on Friday, September 26, 2025. The waitress Wilma, was the rudest, most hateful, and slow of any establishment we have ever been in. The cook was trying in a calm voice to instruct her on how to call out an order.
This waitress starts yelling at the cook. We had been in the establishment for over twenty minutes and our order NEVER got taken. We started to leave and she finally came to our table and I told her never mind we were leaving. She raises her voice to me and says I was about to get your order. I told her we as paying customers we were not going to stay where the atmosphere was as nasty as she was making it. When she was getting more of an attitude I told her “DONT give me attitude I have enough of my own.

The food is an easy five stars!! You get a lot for a little in terms of cost. However, Waffle Houses have always been plagued by the fact that their restaurants (to include this particular location) are not the cleanest, and staff can sometimes be a little rude to customers and A LOT rude to each other. However, in my opinion, their omelettes and hash-browns are the best food items they offer- not their waffles (but they’re solid too).
