I love WH, but I will absolutely not be coming back to this one. This is my second time there and I was every bit of disappointed as the first. We got our food (after a good bit of waiting in the almost-empty restaurant) and the waitress asked if we needed anything else. I told her our drinks. The food was overcooked. The tea was the same color as the syrup (no exaggeration) and tasted soapy. I didn’t even to get to leave before I needed the bathroom. Not sure what exactly about the waffle, bacon, or tea made my stomach so upset. On top of all that, they miscalculated the total to be $9 over what it was supposed to be, then argued that it was wrong because they forgot to add my tea ($2 something) to the ticket. Photo attached. If you add everything up, it doesn’t come out to $31.75. Save your time and go somewhere else.

My first time ever at a Waffle House. Stopped in for a light breakfast on our way home to Pa from TN. The service was pretty good, our food came out at separate times but it wasn’t a big to us at the moment. I just enjoyed my coffee while I waited. The store was clean and the restrooms were clean and stocked. The waitress was very nice as well. It was a nice atmosphere. If you’ve never been to a Waffle House they give an “old diner” kind of vibe. Pretty cool atmosphere. Wasn’t too loud either…. Something I can’t stand in a restaurant. Oh it was also really cheap! We spent $17.00 total for the two of us.

First time at a Waffle House, stopped on a road trip headed home. Miranda and Jessica were working and they were so nice, quick, funny and hospitable! Food was cooked quick and eaten so fast I didn’t have time for a pic, but it was delicious. Bacon cooked perfectly, staff was extremely attentive and efficient. Highly recommend stopping by franchise #2399 on your next road trip! 🙂

I love to frequent waffles houses all over the south and absolutely love the style of food and atmosphere generally. Today was my 2nd time attempting to eat at this location and both times have had absolutely disgusting service. This morning we ordered a light chocolate chip waffle with side of bacon plus a sweet tea and a breakfast chicken plate with water to drink. The waffle was way overdone, the toast didnt come out until i was finished with my food and was so cold that even after letting it sit for a couple minutes it wouldnt even soften the butter on the bread. We didnt get drinks until the time the toast came out at the end of breakfast when we finally had to ask miranda (our server) for it. She gives us a bill that said 31.75 which was completely incorrect as what she had written on the bill added upto 22.75. When i addressed this with the waitress at the register she wanted to apparently make a deal out of it and go tell miranda her check was written and figured incorrectly. Miranda came and looked at the check and then decided to say “oh, well i didnt even write your drink on there either so now its 25.50”. Now, i have zero issues on paying for what is ordered and recieved but i feel like at this point it was out of spite for trying to overcharge me 9.00 and not getting a tip because she couldn’t get our drinks or food to us in a timely manner. I will never return to Abingdon, VA waffle house ever again.

God, this Waffle House. Clean. Finally something that doesn’t smell like a bus station’s back alley. Staff? Actually helpful, which is shocking, I know. Waffles? Better than the ones in Baltimore where the grease was so thick, I thought I’d been served a de facto sculpture. Oh, and the wait time? Less than 5 minutes. For waffles. In Baltimore, you’d be waiting for the ghost of the kitchen to show up. Still, it’s a Waffle House. You’re not supposed to be impressed. But here’s the kicker… I’d actually go back. And by “go back”, I mean ‘sit in the booth for the sheer audacity of it all’.

The food was cooked just as ordered. The waitress was new but did a fair job. The only complaint I have was I ordered coffee and it was served Luke warm. They did however make a fresh pot and made me a new cup.

This is a brand new location so I’ll cut them some slack. The menu has been pared down and changed. Lettuce and onionis are now chopped up for burgers. Before, you got a decent sized piece of lettuce and a slice of each. Hashbrown toppings are individually priced.
The food was okay overall but the service was slow. I ordered a cheeseburger without onions or tomatoes and explained that onions is a food allergy. I and a regular order of hashbrowns with it. My husband got a ham and cheese omelette plate. His hashbrowns were chunked. There weren’t any problems with his meal. He said it was good and liked it. Mine however…
The burger came out with onions and a large slice of tomato on it. I saw it immediately and feel she should have too. Before I could say anything she walked off. Another server came immediately when I flagged ours. She immediately apologized and whisked the plate away. I heard her explain about food allergies to our server and she came over and apologized.
Finally the burger arrived. No lettuce but I let that go. It was cooked okay but just barely. She said the hashbrowns were coming. Several minutes later I get a plate of warm soggy hashbrowns that weren’t even browned. I asked for the mustard ahead forgotten earlier.
The service overall was slow even though they weren’t busy. There was a small family, the two of us and another patron. Social distance means plexiglass between booths and seats blocked off. Our bill was $23 and change pre-tax/tip.

Scarlet (I’m pretty sure that was her name) was an amazing waitress. She had the coolest vibe and made my friends and I’s experience absolutely great. The food was also fantastic and i will definitely come back. ☺️
