The Basil chicken, all the sushi, Chicken on a stick and Chicken Pad Thai are some of our absolute favorite dishes.
I think anyone can turn something negative when they want. But for us? Nothing but GREAT things to say about this place!!! We even have shown up right before closing and we were seated and told not to rush!!! That made a huge impact. We have had maybe a few times where food was a mistake or they were behind and THEY made it right.
Don’t focus on the negative. Go in a give it a try!!! Worth it. ❤️
They sat us in the very back, which was good, we aren’t a very quiet bunch. There was only two other tables in there at this time. There were two teenage boys that were taking our order, so we made sure to try to make it as quick as easy of a process as we could (kids didnt order)
The first slip was that although we ordered everything together, and we understand that everything took time, there was a lot of confusion. One order of items didnt come until nearly the end of the meal, and we had to ask multiple times about it.
We ordered Sake, both the teens and the lady from the front took this order because there was a mess of confusion. We just wanted one Sake bomb with Kirin and one just sake. Explained it twice. We thought we sorted it, but she came back with a kirin and some random beer, and just before she actually got the alcohol, she decided to come over and tell us she needs to see everyone’s ID who is drinking alcohol (my mother and I, of which both of us are wayyy over the legal drinking age) fine, but it was the way she went about it. Which it was whatever at that point (there was a lot of in-between during this as well but we will fast forward) then towards the end, my husband found hair in food that I was about to eat off his plate. While the front end lady rectified this, none of our bills were correct but we just went with it.
The food is decent, its just the atmosphere and thw hospitality or lack there of was not up to par.
We had a large group of about 15 people, including a toddler. At one point, the 2-year-old was standing on the booth (as toddlers sometimes do), and while his mother was already addressing it, the server abruptly came over and scolded him in a raised, harsh tone. This was completely unnecessary and inappropriate.
Later, my sister-in-law—who arrived a bit after the rest of us—asked about a poke bowl. The server snapped at her and said, in a very rude tone, “We’ve had a sign up for two months that our sushi chef is on vacation. Two months. No sushi.” My sister-in-law simply said “okay” and looked for something else to order, but the hostility continued throughout the entire interaction.
The service overall was extremely unfriendly and unprofessional. Our server was visibly irritated the entire time, offered no warmth or courtesy, and made the experience uncomfortable. We waited over an hour for our food, and even the appetizers took around 30 minutes. When the food finally arrived, it tasted decent but was lukewarm.
Our total bill was around $250. We did not leave a tip, which is not something we take lightly. We normally tip—even when service isn’t perfect—but tipping is earned through service, and this experience fell far below acceptable standards. Between the lack of sushi (the main reason we came), yelling at a toddler, snapping at a guest, and excessive wait times, the service simply did not warrant a tip.
To make matters worse, as we were leaving with our children, we saw the server outside approaching other members of our group—who did not pay for the meal—and telling them the kitchen staff was upset about not receiving a tip. She proceeded to guilt them into giving her money. Chasing customers outside to solicit a tip is wildly unprofessional and completely unacceptable.
I’ve worked in restaurants before and would never dream of treating guests this way. This was hands-down the worst service I’ve ever experienced, and it completely overshadowed what should have been a joyful family celebration.
We sat next to a couple who were angry about the service claiming this was their 3rd time of not getting the full and correct order which was uncomfortable. By the end of the visit we decided we would try this venue again in the future. Maybe this was just an off night. I say try it! My experience may not be yours. I’m sure this is a wonderful family owned business just trying to do their best. Again, try it. You may love it!
I was told the spicy mango chicken was fantastic but I would beg to differ. It wasn’t really fantastic. It was okay. The underlying ketchup taste was rather off putting to me. On the other hand their general’s chicken really is fantastic.
The spicy mango chicken was definitely not worth the drive. Good thing I came here for other reasons too.
