Love this place!!! The music was pleasantly great and I don’t care for R&B too much, but the music was a good mix of hype energy! The only slight problem I have is that the particular DJ for that night might need a little more experience! His transitions were a bit erratic and switch overly very sharply as if you would think the one song was going to play, but he’ll switch it over right at the good part LOL! But overall, I will keep coming back, unless something bad/weird happens, and hopefully not!

Great views and patio area. Terrible food, servers were great but the cook staff you pick the food up from could careless. Had the hot chicken sandwich that was over fried and greasy. My friend ordered the same thing ate two bites and threw it out.

Had an amazing experience at VU Rooftop Bar. The ambience was incredible and the view of the city is absolutely stunning. It’s one of those spots that just feels special the second you walk in.

Our server, Monica, was amazing attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect. We also had multiple staff members check in on us throughout the night, which really showed how much they care about the guest experience.

The staff at this restaurant is outstanding! They were friendly and welcoming each time that I ate there. They really seem to like each other and they help each other with all of the tables which makes the dining experience top notch. I especially enjoyed chatting with Melissa during my stay at the hotel. I travel a lot and I enjoyed this hotel restaurant more than most. Thank you.

My wife and I have been regulars at VU since early 2024. The service has always been amazing: prompt, friendly, and inviting. Ernesto, Dom, and Jenny have always been so welcoming and provide excellent, consistent service, and we look forward to seeing them every time we visit. Dylan and Ryan, who I both recently met, live up to all of the above as well. They make the experience of being on a rooftop with great views in Chicago even better.

The drinks are always great tasting and well crafted. The menu and food quality consistency are opportunities. I would like to see new and seasonal items more frequently and I think the consistency of the food quality can be improved so that I can confidently order my favorite items knowing what I’ll get. The furniture and upholstery could use a refresh as well.

Lastly, as a local regular, I wish there were more predictable hours of operation, especially when there are private events/venue buyouts. Most of my visits are day-of decisions and there have been many times when I want to come by and I find the entire venue is closed for a private event. I find that I always have to check if they’re open to the public by either checking OpenTable to see if there are options to reserve that same night or by actually walking by the elevator lobby to see if there’s a “Closed for Private Events” sign in the vestibule.

Given the recent change in ownership, I hope the opportunities above improve. Overall, it’s the excellent staff and warm personalities that keep us coming.

The staff was amazing!!! They were kind, attentive, accommodating, informative! They did not miss a beat! The food was ok. It was good but there wasn’t a flavor that stood out. I had the crab salad, truffle fries, and flat bread. All very good but they don’t get the Amazing Angie Award!!! Overall, we had a great time celebrating my sister’s 50th birthday!!!

We’re guest at the Hilton. As we inquired about the adjacent restaurant, the host by the elevator suggested Vu. After we stated we didn’t want drinks, i inquired about dining options. But she appeared annoyed and ask if we were sure. Yes, no drinks… well, “what do you want”. After answering a couple questions, she just walked away…
She (Sarah?, older woman), said to ignore the Restaurant Week ($60 fix price) menu, that it was wrong and not good options. So I ordered shrimp appetizer and truffle fries, husband ordered salad and burger. She asked no questions. Later brought my shrimp and his salad. Um, shrimp & fries were my entree. Oh, I’ll put in your fry order! By the time that huge bowl of fries arrived, I only consumed 1/4. Taking them home, no.. “why not”. Don’t want to! Really? I don’t know why I’m still sitting.
While discussing the chocolate cake, place raspberries on the side. “It’s only a couple raspberries, are you allergic” no, just place them on the side… why? Are you kidding me! Icing… auto gratuity for a party of 2! Done!

Two words: AVOCADO TOAST. The breakfast here is my favorite part. Seeing the lake make the southside shine in the morning in this mellow environment is one of the best ways to wake up in the city. The dutch pancakes and the breakfast burrito are also excellent choices. Service is always friendly, views are ruminant, and the vibe is immaculate for a smooth morning for any traveler.

Very spacious and beautiful terrace with city views. We got to go during their September Sounds Summer Brunch Series and got to enjoy a live DJ and good food. They have a delicious drink menu and sharable food/drink options for large parties.

Many brunch places are typically too loud where you can’t hear each other, but I appreciate that it’s spacious enough to still hear and enjoy your party.

The shrimp tostadas and chicken and waffles were some of our favorites. Also, love the elevated yet laid back atmosphere. Overall, it was a great expereince.

Quickly becoming my favorite hangout. ♥️ I don’t know if I wanna share it with y’all but here goes…. It’s kinda hidden. My friend stays next door at the Hilton Inn when he’s in town and we meet here for drinks. Last night we had food and it was very good. I loveeee the atmosphere! It’s high above the city so the views are sick! Sexy decor. Tim is the best bartender! Takes great care with a warm smile. Get the popcorn shrimp. I would never thought to order my he ordered and it was perfect. Great cocktails. Enjoy!
