Social Profile:

Volstead’s Emporium is a 1920s-inspired speakeasy tucked away from the ordinary. Find us down the alley, behind our building—look for the door with the red light above. Knock, and a pair of eyes will greet you through the slider. If you think you’ve gone too far, keep walking and look left. Step inside and leave the modern world behind. Dim lighting, velvet curtains, and antique furniture transport you to the Prohibition era. Our ever-changing cocktail menu features handcrafted signature drinks alongside thoughtful non-alcoholic options, including zero-proof cocktails and NA wine and beer. Enjoy live jazz throughout the week, plus comedy showcases and classic burlesque. Pair your drink with something from our food menu.

Cozy, dimly-lit venue offering elevated craft cocktails & a rotating menu of American fare.

Our first time at Volstead’s was a winner!
Food amazingly good, we didn’t even expect it to be this nice lovely atmosphere and the jazzy live music was just the perfect touch.
We will come back when back in town.
Ps Rita Royale is the best!

We had a magical Valentine’s Day date in the Volstead Emporium hidden room behind the bookshelf. For appetizers we had Sweet Potato Fries w/ Maytag Blue Cheese Crème Fraise and Winter Squash Bisque w/ Grilled Baguette. For dinner we had Caramelized Oyster Mushrooms Leeks w/ Creamy Polenta and Short Rib Stroganoff w/ Gnocchi. All of the food was beautifully presented and delicious. For drinks I had the Year of the Horse. It was served in a real crystal glass…very fancy. For dessert we had Lime Crème Brûlée. The hidden room is so cool. There is a hand painted mural with a variety of creatures including owls and herons. There is a two way mirror that allows you to peak out at main room and a special button to alert the staff that you are ready to order. Only down side is that the room has very limited availability…have to plan ahead.

Volstead’s Emporium is an absolute gem. From the moment you walk in, the speakeasy vibe is on point — dark, moody, and effortlessly cool. It’s one of those places that immediately sets the tone for a great night.

We were seated in a booth and got a fun surprise that made the experience even better (no spoilers — just go and see ). The food was solid and definitely exceeded expectations, and the drinks were excellent — well-crafted, balanced, and clearly made by people who know what they’re doing.

Overall, great atmosphere, great drinks, good food, and a memorable experience. If you’re looking for a dope speakeasy with personality, Volstead’s Emporium is 100% worth it. I’ll absolutely be back.

Staff, atmosphere, vibes, cleanliness, taste was all great! I got the Minnesota goodbye it it was the most tastiest whiskey drink ever! It’s a sweet tea like drink with no bitterness smooth and light and refreshing. It’s not your typical South sweet ice tea but I couldn’t ask for a better drink if you want something light! My party also ordered me espresso which was one of the most best tasting espresso martinis! And we also got a pink drink which was a trat refreshing drink with a brightness to it! Super cute highly recommend for a date hight! (It’s a speakeasy and to find it jist go to the back of the building and knock on the metal door!)

Look for red light in alley. Drinks good but not the best. Definitely speakeasy vibes but a little dingy. Kyoto Sour the best out of the three drinks (Old Fashioned and The Lost Empire) ordered.

Amazing food and atmosphere! The speakeasy concept was fun and the staff is so kind. The chef went above and beyond to make me a vegan dish. Best gnocchi I have ever had, highly recommend! Our drinks were delicious and the staff was helpful in narrowing down what we would like. If I lived closer, this would be my new go to for fancy dining/drinks. Cannot recommend enough!!

VALENTINE’S DAY REVIEW ONLY :
Never thought I’d make a bad review for Volsteads ..I’ve been here many times before and had really great food and service, etc~
My partner and I made reservations for Valentine’s Day tonight, TWO months prior, as we’ve come here for cocktails, apps, etc., prior it’s been amazing and we were so excited for tonight. However, upon arrival, the menu was microscopic compared to the normal menu and the choices, visually, weren’t the most appealing compared to what they usually had. We didn’t doubt it at first – because cocktails and ambience were a 10 out of 10. Unfortunately, our server was pretty slow & non attentive so we were asked to close our table before our food was even gone. However, the food was for the high price point, some of the WORST that we’ve had in the city in months, and more disheartening due to it being a romantic holiday, came hungry & excited for Volstead’s food. We were shocked by poor quality, flavor and visuals of the food. It felt as though the food was more “pub food/cash grab” for a busy night (Valentine’s Day).
Spending over $100 a person we left hungry and disappointed and very unhappy.
We will definitely be back to Volsteads during their regular menu, etc., for cocktails and apps, but would definitely NOT recommend coming back for a holiday.

The cocktails were tasty, but
The
Martinis were microtinis the same $15 but half the size (I hate this trend) service was fantastic and there are three false doors inside. It really had the feel of a true speakeasy. We will be back (despite the small martinis)

I love the concept of this place, though even with reservations and all the pre-planning that goes into a date night, it was still a bit tricky to find—we even opened the door to a completely different restaurant by accident. I think the ambiance and secrecy would still hold strong even if there were a slightly clearer map to the entrance [ SEE REVIEW PHOTO]. Those of us who plan the outing can be in on the joke while keeping our friends or dinner dates in the dark, which adds to the fun.

Once inside, we enjoyed two excellent cocktails, a delicious charcuterie board, and the standout baked onion dip with toast—highly recommend. Overall, a memorable and enjoyable experience.

Highly recommend reservations to secure a spot and help the staff.
