The sushi came with Masago even though I asked to leave it off. They offered to remake it but it made no sense waste the food. The hot tea was very weak, I could have done away with ordering it. All in all, was a good meal for the price. Will be returning.

Exceptional Sushi, Flavorful Rolls, and Great Service
Volcano Sushi Bar exceeded our expectations from start to finish. If you’re a fan of bold flavors and fresh, high-quality sushi, this place should definitely be on your list.
We ordered an assortment of spicy rolls and were thoroughly impressed with each one. The Spicy Yellowtail, Spicy Tuna, Spicy Shrimp Tempura, Spicy Shrimp, and Spicy Salmon rolls were all perfectly balanced — just the right level of heat without overpowering the fresh fish. Every roll was beautifully presented, tightly rolled, and packed with flavor. The fish tasted incredibly fresh, and the textures of the tempura and rice were spot-on.
To start, we had both the miso soup and house salad — both of which were excellent. The soup was rich and comforting, and the salad came with a ginger dressing that was tangy and refreshing.
The service was friendly, attentive, and quick without feeling rushed. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, making it a great spot for a casual lunch or dinner out. You can tell that a lot of care goes into both the food and the customer experience here.
Highly recommend Volcano Sushi Bar to anyone who appreciates high-quality sushi and great service. We’ll definitely be back!

Incredibly delicious food. I had the Godzilla roll, and it was finely crafted perfection. The staff are very polite and accommodating. My only nitpick was the music was a bit bland and didn’t fit the vibe, but that’s a very minor quibble. Highly recommended if you’re in the mood for excellent sushi! I will definitely be back!

Nice quiet place with fast service and a peaceful atmosphere. The music was a blend of cultural pieces with top 40’s played at just the right volume to keep conversations at the table they were being had at.
The sashimi was melt in your mouth fresh, and every dish served was a work of art.
The server was fast and attentive but not intrusive.

Some of the best sushi in Virginia Beach! We just went there tonight for take out and the order was ready right on time. Because of the pandemic, they’re not allowing anyone inside the building, but they were all set up at the door to take our names and payments. We waited out front with a few other people and shortly after arriving were able to get our food! I was a little nervous because sometimes take out isn’t as good, but this was the same quality you’d get if you sat inside! Highly recommend.

Been here twice and this is my favorite sushi place. I love how creative they are with how they plate the food. Especially how the sushi comes on a boat. The atmosphere is great and the service is super friendly. My husband isn’t a fan of sushi but he loves the other meals on the menu. 10/10 restaurant!

I’ve been a loyal customer for over 20 years, and absolutely love everything I’ve ever had here. The only thing that reduced my visits from weekly to once or twice a year, is over the past couple of years they have priced me out the door. Judging by the fact they stayed crowded for years to being nearly empty every time I go now, I feel like I’m not the only one put off by the prices. The bento box is good, but the value at that price point just isn’t there.
Thank you for your response. I’ve been in this industry my whole life, so I understand. But your prices have increased 62% in a few years. That heavily outpaces inflation and increases in supply costs, which has been less than half that.
Being a small business doesn’t change anything, unless for some reason you’re supplying yourself through grocers instead of vendors. If that’s the case, you should have kept your focus on this original location instead of expansion.

It’s too much, and even places like Wegman’s are putting out a similar quality product for much cheaper now.

Great lil place for dinner. We sat at the sushi bar and talked with the friendly chef who gave us pieces of salmon in special sauce (on the house!). For dinner I highly recommend the Bento Box combo: 3 choices from a menu of sushi rolls, sashimi, cooked items from the kitchen ($16.95)! Great staff, fresh food, and overall a satisfying experience. Will be back!
