The concept is simple and works well: you get up to 2 hours to eat, and you can order a maximum of 4 items per round from anywhere on the menu. Orders are placed by scanning a QR code that takes you to their online ordering system, though paper menus are available if you prefer — a nice touch.
At weekends there’s also a small buffet, which adds extra value and variety compared to à la carte dining. Fair warning though — it fills you up fast. We managed about 1 hour 15 minutes before tapping out. Amateur eating on our part
This place really shines for large parties. Pro tip: try to get the table to order the same items (for example, everyone going in on Dragon Rolls). When you do, they often serve it as one huge shared platter rather than individual dishes, which is far more fun and sociable.
Service has been consistently warm and friendly on every visit — there’s always a smile from the staff, and the atmosphere feels relaxed rather than rushed, despite the time limit.
Overall, a solid and enjoyable Japanese restaurant in Cardiff Bay, ideal if you’re heading to the Odeon cinema or bowling at the Red Dragon Centre and want variety, value, and a sociable dining experience.
The prices are expensive before the discount, but felt about right after the 50%.
I enjoyed the food for the most part but have found it hit and miss. I ordered the same thing both times I visited and the first time was excellent, and the second time very disappointing.
As you can see from the pictures, the food was absolutely slathered in sweet sauces, and these had pooled on the maki because it was stacked flat like a pyramid. We couldn’t really taste anything but the sauces and these quickly became very rich and sickly.
The portions are excellent though, we definitely didn’t leave hungry! And the staff are lovely too! Absolutely excellent service!
I’m not sure we would go back after our second visit. Shame because the first time was delicious.
The food is visually stunning though! Definitely worth a try at least once!
Drinks are good and the food is really good. The menu itself is really big….lots to choose from!
You have 2 hrs to eat at much as you can for £35, only thing I didn’t like was you can only order 4 items per person at a time and it’s all done via a QR code when you order.
I recommend you get the train here and arrive 15 minutes before a booking, that’s if you made one! You can do it via thier website if need be. I recommend doing that.
I will be coming back here,
Thank you!
The hosomaki was delicious and good quality fish.
Hot food was pretty good too.
The “sashimi salad” was one thing that actively was quite bad, it was some salmon and salad but drenched in this sriracha mayo/fish sauce that i actually had to pour out in order to eat it.
Overall, it was a nice time, but some qualms I have is the sashimi being limited to only two orders per person, meaning you can get a maximum of 6 slices of sashimi the whole time, i’ve been to sushi buffets with this same concept outside of cardiff and others do include sashimi for a lesser price point, as well as this the rice to fish ratio on a-lot of the sushi dishes is a little bit cheeky, plus most rolls in the futomaki dishes include crabstick for some reason (probably because its a more cheaper item)
