The atmosphere was fantastic, the food was delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive.
It was a truly healing experience, and I highly recommend it!!!!
Viva Voce looks great at first glance — a beautiful, sunny location, spacious and lively, with an open kitchen and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff are friendly, the place feels vibrant, and everything suggests a solid Italian dining experience.
Unfortunately, the food doesn’t quite match the promise. Overall, it was good but never great — more on the mediocre side. The carbonara was too dry, lacking creaminess. The pizza was heavy and biscuit-like, with a crust that felt dense rather than light. Ingredients seemed good, but the execution made the pizza hard to enjoy. One pizza had far too much oregano, which completely overpowered the flavors.
The fries were another disappointment — they tasted like they had been fried earlier and reheated in the oven or pan. As for the Spritz, it was acceptable in the end, but nothing memorable.
In short, Viva Voce has all the right elements on paper — location, design, atmosphere — but the kitchen needs refinement. For me, it doesn’t go beyond a 4 out of 5. Stylish and pleasant, yes, but not a place I’d choose for the food.
Update after one day: I can now clearly confirm that the pizza was extremely heavy. On the same evening, there was even a woman in the restaurant loudly warning other guests not to eat the pizza because it was “disgusting.” Unfortunately, I can only agree.
More importantly, there was a very serious issue in our group. One person is gluten intolerant and ordered only French fries, specifically to avoid any risk. A few hours later, she felt extremely unwell. It appears the fries were cooked in oil that had already been used to fry gluten-containing products. This is unacceptable and dangerous.
This kind of mistake is not a detail — it’s a major failure in food safety and allergy awareness. For that reason alone, this restaurant cannot be excused.
I would give this place zero stars if that were possible. Since it isn’t, I’m giving one star.
My dad and myself came here for Sunday lunch. The building from the outside does not look much so we did not have high expectations. After walking in we were very pleasantly surprised as the decor is of a very high standard with Villeroy and Boch china plates and very comfortable chairs. The bread basket was great. For main my father had spaghetti vongole with was super al dente and loads of clams and I had steak tagliatta which was excellent. Service was very good, very friendly staff and very reasonable prices. Well worth a visit…
We were also lucky as there were some dancers in the restaurant presenting a great spectacle.
Really a great experience having dinner there!
