I ordered two Arroz con Pollo and a Sopa de Pollo at lunchtime. I received a tray that was one third red rice positioned to cover two thirds of the the tray bottom. The other one third of the bottom was covered with just shredded lettuce. A small chicken breast was diced and mixed into the red rice. A small container typically used to hold condiments like mayo was how my black beans was given to accompany. Basically, I paid $12:50 for a half full container of rice and lettuce. When I called the restaurant to express that I was expecting rice, beans, a quarter chicken, and maybe a couple pieces of plantains, he said he did not have whole or half chickens prepared. I told him that I have to deal with an unhappy wife now. He should tell me if he is not prepared to offer a dish. Flavor of food, value, and communication earns this One star!

Watch out for bar tender Ivanka. She steals tips from customers. Paid with debit card and she gave herself a$30 tip on my debit card after I tipped her cash. I stopped in to restaurant and said tip is added after I left. She would not refund my card so I said give me $20 cash which was the tip I left and I will never come back. The person on duty returned $20 to me and was fine with us never coming back

This place is the perfect balance of hole in the wall but nice night out type of vibes.
The decor screams authentic and fiesta, the servers are all very friendly and helpful, and we love the menu!
There is something for everyone, our favorites are the fajitas and the enchiladas. There’s even a kids menu so our little guys can enjoy the night out with us.
Drinks are always great and the prices won’t disappoint either.
Definitely recommend our friends at Viva Juan!

I have enjoyed Viva Juan for about 20 years and it’s awesome to see the same familiar faces and enjoy tasty food! Lately, my husband and I love going for a nice lunch around 1pm on a weekday and we sit at the bar and take our time. I usually order everything to share and this time we even had leftovers! The place itself is so welcoming and fun! Restroom is clean and spacious. I would recommend for anyone who wants to enjoy a meal and possibly do some karaoke! ☺️

We went to Viva Juan’sfor dinner for my birthday although the food was very good, I have never been to a restaurant where they charge you nine dollars for sour cream And five dollars for a chip refill, which we only asked for because the food was taking so long we were charged for every single thing on that table, including the oxygen in the air that’s ridiculous. They should have more common courtesy than to charge you nine dollars for sour cream, which was supposed to come with the tacos and five dollars for some extra crummy chips and three dollars for extra salsa. That’s ridiculous and it’s far from consumer, courteous not happy.

What I really dislike is that they charge 20% “gratitude” without letting you know which I found pretty disturbing, because as I far as I know tips are voluntary, I ALWAYS TIP but if you’re charging 20% without telling me, of course I’m going to be bothered.
Because it’s not an obligation and you should be able to tip based on the service and quality of food.
If you get a bad service or something is wrong with the food you’ll have to pay that 20% no matter what.
And if you’re pleased with the service and you don’t notice the bill you’ll end up paying more than 20% in tip.
My point is YOU SHOULD AT LEAST TELL PEOPLE THAT THEYLL BE CHARGED AN EXTRA 20%.

A very nice Mexican restaurant, prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is festive and colorful. Karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights. Many daily specials on food and drinks. The waiter was friendly and courteous, and very attentive. I love their salsa and chips.

Cinco de Mayo 2023 it was happening here, DJ full on loud music and karaoke from 5:00 p.m. onwards at least when we got there. Since it was Cinco de Mayo there was a 15 minute wait but once we sat down the service was excellent. The servers were very kind and we quickly looked through the menu and got ourselves a half a pitch of margarita, guacamole for the appetizer. My wife got the special steak and shrimp and I myself went for the sizzling combo fajita. Hands down the best Mexican food that I’ve had on Long Island. The steak was cooked to perfection. Amazing beans and rice guacamole authentic. It was so good. The atmosphere is too loud, that is why I’m giving four stars but definitely have to try this place out on a normal day. Overall an extremely positive experience.

We went out for couples night and this place was packed. But well worth it. Great staff great entertainment great food. True authentic Mexican Cuisine. They were very accommodating being that our party was pretty big. Next time we’ll call ahead and make reservations. The atmosphere gets pretty dark during Karaoke but we didn’t mind that at all. Food was delicious and came out hot. Drinks were strong just how we like them.
