Food was great. The service, particularly our middle-aged brunette woman with the glasses, was not. Was not attentive, walked right past us without filling the obvious water that was at the edge of the table and needing refill, couldn’t get her attention ever because she was too busy chatting with other staff and thus I had to get up to walk over to her and order a drink. Overall, great food, but the lazy staff hold this place back.

We live in Vista but never ate here until now. The hot pastrami was large and delicious. Took half home. Pub spinach chicken salad with honey-mustard dressing was delicious, too.
Service was fast. We’ll return and eat on patio with heaters.

Our local favorite!! I’ve only been once at night for the pub and it was nice. We mainly go for dinner or lunch. The Irish nachos are a great starter followed up with the Irish stew and Sheppard’s pie are our go to meal. The Irish coffee is quite good as well . Always a welcoming warm experience and that we keep going back for.

I have been going to Vista Village Pub for years, i’m giving a one star review because they have awful service on busy nights like last night, NYE. It was not very busy, there seem to be plenty of staff as usual… But for some reason, the bartenders can’t serve customers standing in front of them with money. As a bartender, myself and have worked at bars with live entertainment and its packed and busy i have feedback for the owner for busy nights. Please train near barstaff, even bar backs to acknowledge customers standing at the bar to order a drink. Im holding money and in front of me to signal, I need to order. The band played two songs before anyone acknowledged me. About 4 employees were behind the bar and I kept trying to wave and get their attention but I felt they were not wanting to serve me. Finally one girl goes “oh I know you need a drink, but I don’t have a drawer”, but she took our order and money anyway because I probably looked annoyed.
I’ve been here on Saint Patrick’s day and other holidays and it’s the same. I’ve walked out before because i’ve been ignored. I want to support this business during major holidays but they need to train their bar staff for it.
Acknowledgement goes a long way. Your bar staff needs to constantly look at the bar and pay attention to who walks up, then, in a timely fashion, acknowledge that you see them and you’ll be right with them. That goes a long way!!! It’s so simple! Also, you need a place along the bar for walkup customers.
Then, you need to train your staff to make drinks quicker i got beer, even though it was busy last night, there weren’t any other people standing for drinks and the four people behind the bar were doing things that weren’t that important at that time, i know this because I used to work in the bar industry. Customer’s our number one and doing bar cleaning etc is 2nd unless it’s an emergency like broken glass. Not shooting the shit with your fellow employees and not acknowledging customers.

I hope they fix their bar staff for major holidays. I enjoy coming here, but it’s so frustrating standing there and not being acknowledged and taking forever to get a drink. I would have stayed till midnight last night but ended up leaving after one because of the hassle of trying to get a drink.

They do have a great food and normally good service, if it’s a regular lunch day.

The waitress was great. Ordered soup and half sandwich. The soup had a great taste, Mexican corn,I believe, but it was luke warm.

Amazing lunch! Pauly was our very excellent server who made sure we were happy with our meal. I had the Reuben sandwich with pastrami which was so tasty. My BF had the Club and it was also delicious. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

We visit The Draft in Oceanside on a regular basis but their menu is kind of limited to just burgers, sammiches, wraps, wings & pizza. After seeing Vista Village Pub’s menu, there’s a whole plethora of options that all sounded great, so we popped in with friends on a Friday afternoon to eat.

We ordered:
* Killer Nachos
* Buffalo Chicken Sandwich
* Shepherd’s Pie
* Duck Wings
* Long Island Iced Tea
* Margarita
* 2 x Breakfast Shot
* and some beers

The Shepherd’s Pie was probably the best thing we tried. Looking like a pot pie with a crust on top, it tasted very good and the size was plenty. The Killer Nachos were pretty basic when it comes to nachos…nothing unusual or killer about it. The Duck Wings were good but they were not sauced with the buffalo sauce like I prefer. They came dry with the sauce on the side. Although these were good, I think I prefer standard chicken buffalo wings. The Buffalo Chicken sammich was also pretty basic.

The cocktails were good and the beer was cold. The service was exceptional. I would have rated the food 3 stars but the service really scored that extra star for me.

There is plenty of seating inside and out. Seats outside are not padded, but the seats inside are (this is always a big deal to me…I like to be comfortable and I have a flat @ss unfortunately).

We definitely will come back to try more food to get a better gauge on whether this will be a routine option for us but with the vast amount of things on the menu, it may take some time
