Absolutely amazing local bar in such a touristy area. Texas based food and drinks. Service is just all the way good. Friday night is music night with good old country music!! For food, I recommend chicken wing for starter and burger is a good try. Half chicken is a bit dry but still tasty with the bbq source. Bartenders and staff are very welcoming and friendly. Gonna come here more often to try out rest of the food!!

We were able to get a table without a reservation. The person at reception was lovely, and the waiter was fantastic, welcoming us with professionalism and humor and advising us on our menu choices. The atmosphere is great, and the food is delicious. We had a wonderful time. A place we will definitely return to. Thank you to all the staff, you are amazing!

Virgil’s BBQ absolutely delivered. From the moment I walked in, the staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive, which set the tone right away. I ordered the steak and eggs, and the food came out impressively fast.

The portions were huge for the price, easily one of the best values I’ve had for a brunch-style meal. The steak was cooked perfectly and full of flavor, paired with fluffy eggs, crispy potatoes, and toast—everything tasted amazing and felt hearty and satisfying.

The atmosphere really adds to the experience: a laid-back Southern vibe with plenty of TVs around, making it a great spot whether you’re there to eat, hang out, or catch a game. Overall, great food, generous servings, fast service, and friendly staff. I’d definitely come back and highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.

Virgil’s was an absolute treat. The brisket alone could probably broker world peace, and the rest of the meal followed suit. Service was friendly in that effortless, ‘we’ve-got-you’ way, and the cocktails were spot‑on. The Olympic coverage on the TVs made for a fun backdrop, nothing like great BBQ with a side of elite athleticism. The live music, however, was… enthusiastic. A bit louder and a bit less my taste than I’d hoped, but thankfully everything else more than made up for it.

We have been dedicated patrons of Virgil’s Real BBQ since 1998, and after all these years, the food remains consistently outstanding. This restaurant has stood the test of time for a reason—they simply do BBQ right.
The star of the menu, in our opinion, is the Pulled Pork Sandwich; it is absolutely the stuff that dreams are made of! The meat is tender, smoky, and perfectly sauced.
Beyond the incredible food, the staff is excellent, always providing great service, and the entire venue is very clean. If you are craving authentic, high-quality barbecue, there is nowhere else you should go. Virgil’s is the gold standard.

Virgil’s is an excellent place for BBQ in the middle of NYC.

As you can see from my pictures, we got:

– BBQ chicken wings – our party got 3 plates of them, one for each of the options: Classic, Carolina Gold and Sweet Chili Sauce. Carolina was our favorite.

– The Pig Out (for 2 people) – came with two spare ribs, pulled pork, smoked 1/4 chicken, hot sausage, cornbread, a couple pickle slices, and 2 sides: mac n’ cheese & collard greens. The ribs and pulled pork and sides were good, but nothing to write home about. The sausage, cornbread and chicken were excellent. Some chicken breast was left over til that night and it was still found to be soft and moist, unlike BBQ at some other places. This may or may not be worth it for you at $73.

The atmosphere was tastefully rustic – try to score a table upstairs. Service was nice and prompt.

So drop by Virgil’s for some great BBQ, it’s especially good after seeing a show.

From the moment we walked in, the service was above and beyond—starting with the hostess. We asked to sit at the bar, but there weren’t two seats together. The hostess went out of her way to ask a guest if she wouldn’t mind moving over, and she graciously did. I eat out often and have never seen anyone take that kind of initiative before.

Our bartender provided excellent service, consistently checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. We also met the manager and had a great conversation with him. Oh, and the food was perfect—with plenty of leftovers to take home!

Apologies that I don’t have anyone’s names. I had noted them in an email to myself but can’t seem to find it.

Top scran. Solid and flavoursome BBQ, the like of which is unheard of in the UK. Beef brisket and fries was good, table sauces were excellent and really added to the experience from light bbq to fiery spice. Its incredibly efficent in food terms and service is lovely and efficent. Couldn’t ask for more and a great experience. Get in there, you wont regret it.

Food was good, but not amazing. Brisket, ribs and chicken were all a bit dry.

Service was good (although a bit slow) but the portion sizes are very large.

I’d give them another shot, but the dry meat concerns me.

We arrived in NYC late Christmas evening. Virgil’s was open and we had a reservation. We were seated immediately. Nice draft beer selection. We had the Carolina pulled pork and sides. It was good, but it wasn’t South Carolina bbq. Hard to find that authentically in NYC. The sides were good. Great Mac n cheese, collard greens, grits. We enjoyed it! Nice atmosphere. Country music!
