Ohhh myyy gawwwwddd!! I was looking for a place to get my oxtails, now that I moved to North Jersey, and “Violet’s” happened!! The oxtails practically melt in your mouth! The rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains were seasoned perfectly. This is just what I was looking for. I will most definitely be a constant return customer! COOKIE

We were greeted upon entrance with wide smiles. I had the oxtails that were delicious we also tried the jerked garlic wings and honey garlic chicken. Those meals came with rice, veggies and we got a bit of yams .. everything was delicious

Love Violet’s and have been coming here since it opened. My favorite for beef patties, oxtail and rice and peas. However, I feel like their hidden star of the show is the spinach rice. It is delicious, perfectly seasoned, but not available the entire week, so I look forward getting it on Thursdays/Fridays.

I live in California and when I come to Jersey, this is my go to spot, my parents also LOVE their oxtails. The food is amazing and the service matches it. The lady at the counter Cadeem, is super pleasant and accommodating. I will 100% continue to eat here any chance I get!

Idk what all these other reviews are talking about but this food was hittin . Especially the oxtail.. I came from Brooklyn… I googled the closest oxtail spots next to me and this place popped up. I went to it because I saw a picture where they had a whole plate of rice and oxtail and it looks so good and baby when I got my meal they did not disappoint It taste so juicy and tender. The small meals look like large and a large meals look like extra large. Definitely going back

I’ve been a customer since this place opened, and while the owner is a genuinely good guy, the staff has really let the experience down. It’s frustrating when you’re a regular, but the service doesn’t reflect that—some servers act like they’re doing you a favor just by showing up. The portions have been shrinking over time, which is disappointing for the price, and the quality of your meal depends entirely on who’s serving you that day. Good food shouldn’t come with inconsistency and attitude. I don’t appreciate feeling like an inconvenience, so I’ve decided to stop visiting. It’s a shame because it had potential, but the lack of care for customers is a dealbreaker.

I’ve been here three separate times and I’ve gotten three different meals and all of them hit. Excellent food, staff, and service. Warm greeting, and smile every time. I don’t know what to recommend because everything is top-notch. Attached photo is jerk chicken, pigeon rice and cabbage.

I’ve been supporting this business for a long time and always recommend it to others in the area. Their prices are reasonable, and they’re very generous with their portions. They have a nice selection of meals to choose from. My go-to order is usually the oxtail or jerk chicken dinner, plus a patty (if I get there before they sell out.) The only thing I wish is that they smoked their jerk chicken. But I highly recommend visiting

I was excited to try Violets from Jamaica and ordered through Uber Eats. I chose the oxtail plate, which in the description clearly stated it came with rice and two sides. I picked yams and cabbage, but when my food arrived, it was just oxtails, yams, and cabbage — no rice.
I called the restaurant to ask if rice was supposed to be included, and the woman who answered was rude and unhelpful. She insisted I was supposed to add the rice myself, even though I double-checked and the description said it comes with rice. I didn’t appreciate being blamed for something that wasn’t clearly communicated.
What’s frustrating is that the food was actually really good — the oxtails were tender and flavorful — but spending $30 for just meat and two sides felt like a rip-off. I would’ve happily gone back to get rice if someone had just been kind and willing to work with me. Unfortunately, poor customer service really ruined the experience.

Definitely a mom and pop. The service and attention to the individual was great. While the meal size I went with was a bit pricey and that may be on me the portion sizes were BIG. One larger meal along with a chicken soup was more then enough for my family of 3 with left overs for me. Great new spot love that we are getting so many different local restaurants
