Our story began in New Jersey, where my husband opened Sagres in 1998. With his Portuguese heritage and over 45 years as a chef, he crafted an authentic dining experience that won the hearts of many. Together, we have dedicated our lives to sharing the rich flavors and traditions of Portuguese cuisine. Now, we are excited to bring that same passion to Florida. Our move to Pompano Beach marks a new chapter, but our commitment to quality and authenticity remains unchanged. We love what we do and are thrilled to share our journey and our cuisine with you. I loved it. Came here in a rush and got something to eat real quick but the bread and olives were delicious. The service was great and the pleace is impeccable.

The food was ok. Octopus was a bit fishy.
The place is beautifully decorated but i was hoping to find a more traditional look. I didn’t feel “transported to portugal”.

Portuguese cuisine isn’t very common in this area, so I really appreciated the concept — especially the use of imported products from Portugal, which adds a nice authentic touch. The atmosphere is very pleasant and perfect for a relaxed dinner.
That said, I didn’t find the food particularly exceptional. The flavors felt a bit flat, and nothing really stood out in a memorable way.
Still, it was a nice experience overall. I might come back to try other dishes or just to enjoy the ambiance again.

We have lived in South Florida for 6 years. We have driven all over FL searching for good Portuguese food, with no success until Vinhus opened!!! What a delight. The location is perfect, the staff/family is so kind and take pride in their restaurant and customers. We are original from CT and ate at great Portuguese restaurants in NJ, CT and MA. Vinhus is my favorite.

I was initially drawn to Vinhus Restaurant and Grill by the inviting ambiance that radiated even from the street. However, my experience was a disappointment. The fish I ordered was excessively salty, making it difficult to enjoy the dish. The service left much to be desired; staff were unresponsive and inattentive, despite the restaurant being nearly empty at the time of my visit. Even a simple request for takeout boxes took nearly 10 minutes to fulfill and getting extra sauce even when paid for was like pulling teeth. Unfortunately, the charm that first attracted me did not translate into the dining experience. My rating reflects my discontent: 1 stars for food, 2 stars for service, and 2 stars for atmosphere. I hope the management takes steps to improve these issues for future guests.

I’ve been eyeballing this place because it’s so close to me and has such an inviting look. But I will say after trying to food I am here to stay!
We started with the octopus to share. It was delicious, flavored with lemon and spices and grilled enough where the inside was still super tender. It came with a side of tomato salad and olive oil drizzle. Then we went for the pita bread & butter which was super flavorful and such a great addition.
The sea food pasta was delicious, adorned with shrimp, squid and clams. It was everything I could wish for. My husband for the swordfish with rice and salad. Also a phenomenal choice.
The dishes tasted fresh and home made which we found to be charming. Another plus is the size of the plates. While it was too much for one sitting I am fond of taking leftovers, but I’m sure some people will find comfort in knowing you won’t leave hungry.
They had tons of wine options that paired well with the food, and our waiter was knowledgeable in the dish to drink pairing so if there’s any doubt you can always ask him.
I will say I was a bit taken with the prices of the plates, but after seeing the size of it I can understand why. The restaurant has a modern look to it which was something I did not expect, since the building outside is somewhat rustic. Overall, great experience and I hope to return soon.
