Clearly a popular place to dine, with a massive menu offering plenty of choice, though some dishes felt a little on the expensive side. The food was okay but nothing particularly memorable. The prawn spring rolls were quite gluey, and the lemon flavour in the mayo served with the calamari was barely noticeable. Unfortunately, the wait service was not very impressive and lacked attentiveness.

Only came here for two dishes, and one absolutely impressed me while the other was still solid. When a menu’s extensive it can be hit-or-miss, but I’d heard the Rock Salt Chicken and Salt & Pepper Ribs were the hot hits.

The Rock Salt Chicken was cooked pretty much perfectly — any juicier and you’d risk it being under. Portion size was huge for under $20 (think $18 with a solid stack of rice and a salty soup on the side to refresh the palate). The rock salt dip was hella salty, but good — mixing in chilli tames it nicely. Definitely a standout dish.

The Salt & Pepper Ribs were exactly as expected. Nothing mind-blowing, but cooked right. Personally would’ve liked them a bit crispier or meatier, but they’re ribs so understandable.

Overall, I’d 100% come back for the Rock Salt Chicken alone — excellent value and a big protein hit.

5 – 3 star

Update came and ordered the rock salt chicken once again it was good but I ordered a bowl of pho with extra chicken and the guy charged me $13 for the smallest bowl with little chicken, asked if he is sure it’s $13 because usually you can get it 3-5$ extra. Just an absolute rip off on that front won’t be coming back. A full bowl of pho is $18, for a serving of chicken half the amount in the bowl not worth it.

This has somehow become our go-to spot after airport pick-ups. We always order the wonton or dumpling egg noodle soup, and sometimes the dry noodles if we don’t feel like soup. The food is consistently amazing and really hits the spot every time. Great value and a reliable choice.

easily one of my favourite Viet restaurants in Melbourne!

definitely order the chicken with rock salt and shaken beef. The wonton soup is a pretty good addition if you want something broth-y

can be pretty packed during the weekends at meal times but otherwise definitely worth going. Also if you want takeaways – call instead of ordering on the apps because it’s a tad cheaper.

Food quality is consistently amazing. Flavour always amazing. Recommend you order the steam chicken with rock salt, the water spinach, beef ginger spring onion and their famous dumpling noodle soup. And their new shop is clean, airy, bright… excellent setup ! Tables are clean and shiny !

I haven’t been back here for a while, but thought we would stop by for a quick dinner.
Dumpling noodle soup was excellent, a classic done really well. Service was good. Will be back again.

The softest, juiciest steamed chicken ever – made even better when you dip each slice in the ginger and rock salt oil. Their prawn spring rolls were also chock full of prawns. Tasty, big portions… in this economy?! I’ll be back for sure.

It’s our go-to happy place when we don’t feel like home cooked food. Service is always 10/10
Our must-to orders are chicken ribs with salt, prawn spring rolls and wonton soup. These are amazing, top notch.

Tips: ask for (fresh!) chilli dipping sauce to go with everything.

Noodles are alright, rice is delicious too. But would highly recommend my set menu above.

I used to come here before the pandemic and loved their steamed chicken with rock salt and honey and black pepper beef. Price has gone up, but it’s expected. The portions have reduced, which is unexpected. Both dishes are as good as yesterday. The salt and pepper calamari is not as nice as before. The batter is too thick. My favourite calamari is still in Gembrook (see my other reviews). $3 for BYO.

On September 24th, 2024, I went to the restaurant and thought the service, food, and ambiance were all right.

We enjoyed our bowl of fish ball soup. The wanton soup, on the other hand, was not so fantastic because the prawn, a crucial component of the wanton, is absent, and the wanton is hard.

It was okay with the rice dishes that we had ordered.

It’s still a good location overall for a supper with friends and family.
