Brad was an amazing server! So nice and attentive.. The sandwich was excellent. A club. The fries, however, were cold and not very good. We sat on thr patio to avoid the noise and chaos but got a couple a nd grandmother with 3 totally uncontrolled children. Not just being children – I mean screaming, beating tables, running wild and ignored by parents. This, of course was not ghr restaurants or Brad’s fault. It’s poor parenting. I actually felt sorry for the staff.

Village. Tavern has wonderful food, excellent service. I ate the crab cake sandwich with a salad for lunch. This has become my favorite place in Winston Selem. Update 1/3/26- I highly recommend the spring rolls for appetizer. It is delicious with the sauces provided. I had Yaki with veggies. It was delicious. It is the first time I’ve had veal and it was well worth it.

This is one of those places that never misses. Always clean, friendly staff, professional and serves excellent food! Can’t go wrong here as a local or when visiting! The menu has so many options so if you don’t know what you want you’ll struggle! Never had one bad meal, everything is incredibly cooked perfectly and well! The flavor is always off the charts too! Staff is always friendly and on point, they keep up with you during and after you finish eating! Great ambience inside as well for any situation whether lunch, dinner, first date, awkward situations and more. Very relaxing and a good go to! I love this place!

We were in town to visit Wake Forest and stopped in here for dinner; it was a very pleasant surprise. The food was very good. It was a lively atmosphere. And the service was very good as well. I think this place might be a bit of a chain with other locations but I can only comment on this one. It’s a great option.

Wowww!!! What a great night I had. New England Clam Chowder soooo good, Filet Mignon tacos are to die for, sweet potato fries are no joke and to finish carrot cake that PERFECT!!! The photo is the leftover of the carrot cake. That being said, the service provided by Bree was OUT OF THIS WORLD! I told the manager that if I owned a restaurant, I would made her a job offer that she could refuse. She’s definitely a keeper. God bless you all! Thanks!

Me and my mom’s food was cold. The manager offered to get me fresh food when she overhead me saying my food was cold. I said I was fine but she insisted on taking it back. I assumed they are gonna make a fresh meal for me because most restaurants don’t use microwaves. She brought the same plate out 2 minutes later and it seemed obvious they had put it in the microwave because the bowl was burning hot. They didn’t offer to bring my mom different food even though her food was just as cold as mine. Both meals were very cold and did not taste good. Was really overpriced and we didn’t get any kind of discount. I rarely write reviews like this but would not go back to this location.

We enjoyed our meal, but the highlight was our server, Angie! She was a sweet treat. We understand why the restaurant gets high reviews. We agree!

In short, it was one of the most favorable visits we’ve ever experienced at a restaurant. We were welcomed immediately at the bar by Kristen and Becky, who took our drink order, and asked if we had been there before. We responded no, and were briefed in detail on the menu, and what the specials for the evening were.

As we gathered in the atmosphere and sipped our beer, we noticed a blend of what appeared to be tourists and regulars. Despite never being there, we were treated like a regular and laughed alongside them as we ate.

Our food was simply fantastic, the Oyster Tacos were simply amazing, probably the best I’ve ever had, as they were crisp, fresh, and full of flavor.

Thank you for the excellent experience.

I recently spent a week in Winston-Salem while my son was working at a nearby hospital, and we were fortunate that the Village Tavern was right across the parking lot from his hotel. What I can say is that every single day, from lunch through dinner, this place stayed busy—and after visiting, I completely understand why.

On our second visit, we went for a special occasion—my son’s birthday. We made reservations and walked over. The restaurant has a quiet, distinguished vibe that feels welcoming without being stuffy. Our server greeted us right away, and throughout the night he was friendly, attentive, and made excellent recommendations.

We started with the Spicy Korean Fried Cauliflower appetizer, which was sweet, spicy, and uniquely served on a sheet of nori. My son suggested wrapping the cauliflower in the nori for an extra umami punch—delicious!

For entrées, he ordered the Butcher’s Steak (a center cut aged Angus sirloin) with a loaded baked potato and green beans. Being from Texas, he knows his beef, and he gave it a wholehearted approval. I went with the Italian Sausage & Black Pepper Honey Pizza, made with their house-made Caputo flour dough. It was outstanding—sweet, savory, and more than enough to share, and the addition of the Black Pepper Honey, made it truly unique.

Since it was a birthday dinner, we took dessert to go and chose the Very Best Carrot Cake. After letting dinner settle back at the hotel, we split it—and I have to say, in 60 years of enjoying desserts, this might be the best carrot cake I’ve ever had. Moist, rich, perfectly spiced, and topped with decadent cream cheese icing. My son agreed, and we both decided the server’s recommendation was spot on once again.

All in all, Village Tavern more than lived up to its reputation. The food, service, and atmosphere made for a memorable evening, and I can see exactly why the parking lot stays full. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Winston-Salem!

Good sized crowd on a Sunday at 6 pm which is a sign of a good, popular restaurant. We ordered take out consisting of the crab dip, Hemingway Florentine dinner, Meatloaf dinner, and Creme Brulee dessert. The portions were generous for the appetizer and dinners and they were nicely done. The creme rules was tasty. Servers were friendly and promptly directed us to the right place for pick up. We plan to return on a future visit to Winston-Salem and eat in.
