Dined here often. One of our favorite local places. Brought some friends this evening who had not been here before and something was off. They must have overbooked or something. A few months ago when we were seated they told us we had the table until a specific time and that there was a reservation for it. It was more than enough time for us to have dinner and dessert but I thought it odd to give someone a time limit when you seat them. This time the hosted came over to the table shortly after we paid the bill and were wrapping up our conversation and said “is everything ok?” Which confused us then she went on to say (with no apology) that she had a reservation for the table so we needed to clear it up for that. I think there is a more tactful way to approach this situation. I could see the foyer and there was nobody waiting for a table (I’m always mindful of that). Coming into off season I’m not sure if this will be one we frequent as much as we have in the past. Service was excellent as always. But the food and tact of the hostess left room for improvement. I’m giving a higher rating because of all the good experiences we have had there. Every restaurant has an off night.

I had the salmon and it was out of this world delicious. So good! My wife had the haddock and she said the same about hers. From the bread to the meals, fabulous food. We will return!

Love Village Tavern. Don’t know for sure but have been told it is under new ownership.
Caesar salad was big enough to share and dressing was just right.
Menu has changed a tad, now sides are defined and included with entree; before they were not included but you could choose which you wanted. What came with the haddock – shredded carrots and pea pods and also potato pancakes – were excellent, so no loss there. The dressing for the pancakes was crazy good.
The crusting of the haddock was scant this time which was NOT a welcome change.
Cheesecake with white chocolate and raspberry puree was sooo good. I usually don’t like added white chocolate as it makes a dessert too sweet but it was perfect.

Fantastic food! I had the baked haddock. My wife the mussels. Every table had a short rib on it so that must be quite popular. Will diffinately visit again next time we are in town!

Great dining experience at Village Tavern! All meals come with fresh bread. The appetizers were our favorite part of the meal, so be sure not to skip over those. We ordered the crab cakes and buffalo cauliflower bites for appetizers followed by the lamb shank and pecan crusted haddock. Service was fast, the food was delicious and cooked to perfection, and the overall experience was excellent. If you go early you will be seated right away, but it does fill in fast!

We have been coming to Village Tavern for 10+ years always having a great experience. Heard there were new owners and I want to assure folks the food is still the culinary perfection it’s always been. Our server was polite, friendly and with good humor. I was able to make reservations for my party of six and yes we were informed we would need to vacate after two hours for other diners but this was only if there was another party waiting for the table. Last night no one was waiting for our table so we were able to stay past the two hours. To me and my party of six, our experience was the same as always. Complete delight and satisfaction. Oh, and don’t skip dessert. It is sinfully delicious!!

When walking into this restaurant on a Thursday evening, it was very packed. Parking on along the street, and there is no paved areas; other rocks/dirts. I inquired with the hostess to seat my party of 5, and she first said there would be an hour wait; once proceeding to leave to speak with my party, she then said they can coordinate to put 2 tables together to seat my whole party and it would take 20 mins. They had daily specials, and my husband decided to take advantage of the duck- it was flavorful and tender, 10/10. I got the burger with truffle butter and feta, and was 8/10; they cooked my burger to my request of medium well. We got the calamari for our appetizer and it had fresh tentacles to assure me it was not frozen! Would recommend this restaurant to others for sure!

My family went in for brunch and it was good food! The service was great and the atmosphere inside was really lovely. Definitely a nice restaurant. We got the crab cakes for appetizers and they were really delicious. I did bite down on a bone inside. For my entree, I got the Atlantic salmon with garlic and ginger mashed potatoes. It was delicious! The rest of my family got the cheddar burger, linguini with seafood and poblano cream sauce, and the spaghetti with meatballs.
My mom got the Mark’s mule and it was delicious!
I think the presentation could be heightened a little in comparison to how nice the restaurant is. There also were no vegetarian options outside of the appetizer-sized salads.
Overall, we had a good time!

Restaurant was recommended to us by the lodging we stayed at in Kenebunk. Waited about 20 minutes before we were seated. Staff were super friendly and attentive to customers. Our server was efficient and his recommendations for dinner were on point.
The main meals included lamb shank and wild rice. Meat was super tender and well seasoned. We also ordered linguini pasta with meatballs which was delicious. The cream filled eclair served with ice cream was decadent.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal in this warm and cozy restaurant
