Where is the curry sauce? There was only a millimeter of sauce at the bottom

Also why is there 5 million carrots in the stir fry? 3 different cuts of carrots too, like why?? Who even likes carrots that much? Personally I don’t carrot all

Spring rolls are bomb though! Come on guys step it up it’s like every 2 entrees out of 3 have something unusual about them.

I love the food here. It’s fresh and excellent quality Chinese food, it’s so far above the rest. The service is very good, and the restaurant is clean. Village Gourmet has a very busy take out business. My go to is the pan fried pork dumplings and the Thai Curry Chicken and Shrimp. I’ve been coming here for at least 15 years, and the food quality and preparation is always consistent. I’m a huge fan!

I’ve been eating here for over 25 years and it has always been consistent–until now. I don’t believe in writing a bad review just to bash a place, but in the hope that they will fix what is wrong. The last few times I’ve been here the food was awful. Especially the fried items–the eggroll was inedible and had been cooked in month-old grease. Please fix whatever problems you guys are having as this used to be the best Chinese restaurant in Norwalk and friends would come from Westchester to eat here with me. The spare ribs are mostly fat and the General Tso’s chicken had a burnt taste. I’m not sure if Eric is still there or not, but the quality has gone way down. Guys, please fix this as I want to come back–you had the market cornered–what happened?

So I have to start by saying that this has been our favorite Chinese food place in Connecticut, every time my family comes from overseas the first meal they always ask for is from this restaurant. And while they stay here we order every other day.
So we have tried many things on the menu and everything is highly tasty! I mean, it keeps you wanting more, even when you have leftovers it tastes delicious the following day.
The sesame chicken is soooo good, crispy, sweet and very well done. The shrimp is amazing too, the one with mango is highly recommended as it has fresh cut mango. We truly love the place for sitting and take out. If you eat at the restaurant, expect high quality service, they just keep you happy from beginning to end. Definitely love this place.

I have always enjoyed Village Gourmet and their beef with sauteed string beans was amazing…until now. We ordered on Christmas Eve. First it was an hour and 15 minute wait to pick up, and when I arrived, my order wasn’t ready for another 20 minutes. I watch others come and go with their orders, not mine. Then when we got home, lo mein, beef with string beans, sesame chicken, moo shoo pork, all tasteless. Leftovers never survive in my house, this time I had to throw them away after 3 days because no one would eat them. Cross this place off my list for sure! Quality and taste have gone WAY DOWN! and SO EXPENSIVE!

Simply amazing…. Every time.

Village Gourmet is located on Chestnut Hill Rd in the IGA shopping center. Their food is slightly more expensive than other local Chinese restaurants, but that is my only criticism and it doesn’t matter because the food quality more than makes up for it. The wonderful staff and beautiful decor create a splendid culinary experience.

Village Gourmet is open for dine-in, take-out and delivery via apps. Enjoy!

I ordered food to get delivered. Everything arrived quickly and warm. I ordered general tso chicken, steamed dumplings, scallion, pancakes, and Szechuan dumplings.

Unfortunately, the food did not taste good. It appears to be reheated and lacked any taste.

VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE SERVICE! Front lady taking orders was rude. Wouldn’t make a simple modification which I usually pay extra for. Food is over priced and not consistent (brown carrots which I picked out and threw in the garbage). I’m definitely convinced it’s under new ownership and will find a new place to go.

We used to eat here a lot many years ago, so I was excited to see that our delivery app listed them. That excitement did not last long. Everything we ordered was overcooked and bathed in oily sauce, and the hot and sour soup was gelatinous with way too much corn starch. Even the rice was overcooked. We will not be ordering from them again.

We have been going there for years including before COVID and before their fire and will continue to do so as loyal customers. I’m appalled by a lot of the reviews who say they have been going for years then turn on them as soon as one meal makes them give a 1 star. This place is the definition of a small business, run by a passionate chef owner. The ladies there are hardworking and they commute from the city. The food is good, the people are nice, and they keep a clean restaurant. That’s what our family cares about.
