Lates is amazing. It’s a tiny little shop but it packs some big flavor. If it’s late and everywhere else is shutting down food service, this is the place to go. Excellent menu for those late night cravings, great price, and the staff is very friendly. The food hits the spot and it’s always hopping with people picking up orders or stopping in on their way by. Definitely a place to try when you’re in Torrington. Nestled between the River Walk and Sawyer’s, just a short walk from downtown.

My family and I stopped in by chance and decided to give it a try. WOW, I do not regret it. Genuine hole in the wall with a kind staff, the burgers were gooey and we all loved it. The cashier was sweet and patient with us. Would have posted more pics but we ended up eating it all!

I’ve been there a couple times in the past few weeks. The food is good and the service is good. But, there’s a guy who always wears a hat, has glasses, a beard and I believe curly hair. He works in the kitchen. When I’ve been there, I’ve seen him touch his phone, his clothes, wipe his face and run his fingers through his hair. Then he touches the food, all without washing his hands. It’s a turn off for some people. That’s the only reason I gave this review 4 instead of 5 stars. Once this gets rectified, I will upgrade it to 5.

The hobo burger is the best burger I’ve ever had and my girlfriend is obsessed with the big pickle burger. They also make really good fried Oreos. Definitely a spot to check out!!

Ordered Taco burger, Dill pickle burger , teriyaki fries, sweet potato fries, and mac and cheese bites for pickup. It took over an hour for the food to be done, staff seemed apologetic about it though. The sweet potato fries, quesadilla, and teriyaki fries were good but they messed up the burgers so bad. It was impossible to tell which was which, as one burger had two top buns and the other had two bottom buns. There was no egg added on the dill burger even though it was paid for. There was also no cheese or onions on the dill burger. One of the patties for the dill burger was completely raw in the middle. There was no ketchup, mayo, or onions on the taco burger.

Two years ago when my fiance and I moved to Torrington we LOVED lates. Him being a burger fanatic, said it was the best burger he had in CT. so after a longgg 2+ month wait for their opening this year (due to understandable circumstances) we were so excited to finally get some burgers.
When we showed up to pick up our food after a 45 minute wait, one of the cooks gave my fiance a bit of a hard time about ordering a burger with 4 patties. He tried to convince him to get two double burgers. What’s the point of the 4+ patty option. On top of it the cashier kept smirking at the cooks, giving me the vibe she was trying not to laugh at us for some reason? Just seemed strange.
Our food had not been ready at time of pickup, and we waited another 20 minutes which is fine, but when you order online you’re supposed to be able to see when your food is ready as well as receive texts and I received no texts or updates. Once we finally got home and ate our food, the burgers were extremely dry and for $46 for two burgers we were pretty disappointed.
