Had the misfortune of ordering a meaty pizza here for take away, when I actually tasted the ingredients, I was extremely disappointed.
I could taste the flour on the pizza base, I could taste the cheapness of the meat used.
For R215 I expect an exceptional pizza, and I took the word of the waiter that it is a delicious pizza.
Definitely way below an average pizza. Not worth the money.

What a cute little hidden nook.
The look and feel gives an old-school European bakery vibe.
This restaurant is cosy and perfect for winters.
Our waiter was very slow and not very attentive. That was the only thing we weren’t happy about.
We we very happy they serve gluten-free spaghetti and the pasta was delicious!!
We will definitely be back for a date night.

We ordered takeaway pizza from them. It tasted very good but one of them had a piece of bone in it. I bit down on it and chipped a tooth. My family who live in the area say that this is not the first time. The pizza tasted good but it’s not worth a dentist visit. I would avoid this place and find something that uses higher quality ingredients without bone in it.

The Village Bistro has been our “go to” restaurant for many years particularly because they allow us to include our big poodle in our party. We stopped by on Saturday for supper and again were treated to a wonderfully romantic evening!! The quality of the dishes, service and general attention was as usual delightful!! A sudden torrential rainstorm did not phase the staff as they moved verandah tables further under the roof and rearranged everything. We cannot recommend The Village Bistro highly enough – well done to the staff as always!!

We arrived on the steam train from Hermanstad. We were the first patrons from the train but had to wait 1 and a half hours for our pizza. We had to run to be on time. Please inform your patrons if you don’t have the capacity to bring out food in time for us to catch the train. Even after I already paid, having waited 1:10 , the pizzas have not even gone into the oven yet!! I understand that this might be a logistical nightmare, but don’t take my order if you are not able to serve me in time. Then I was also asked to pay even before my pizza was in the oven. When we realised that we might miss the train, we wanted to cancel our order, but was told that we cannot be reimbursed.

This place definitely does not deserve a 4.5. I’ve been on a search for months for the perfect beef trinchado. But instead only found myself with beef strips and crap for your money’s worth. Also happened to be addicted to actual woodfired pizza. And THIS place people, I will tell u is GOLD. Eventually found a place where both the beef trinchado and pizza was on POINT. Paid the same price for my useless beef strips at the time and Village Bistro includes one hell of a Greek salad, proper bread or sides and is drowning in the correct rump and sauce. The pizza is next level. JUST WOW. The service was next level, they accommodated my friend and I with two heaters and blankets outside. #Thebest. I dream of this place but will come visit again when I visit Pretoria!!!

Perfect way to start a meal is to order the creamy garlic snails in a white wine sauce. It was absolutely delectable. One of those dishes where you feel like licking the bowl before the waiter has a chance to remove it from your table. Next I felt like spoiling myself with the Greek Moussaka, and wow!!! Another incredible dish to eat. Cappucino was great. My only complaint, unfortunately, was the strawberry cheesecake. Just a bit to dry. The service was amazing. Had a lovely chat with the waiter. Beautiful Bistro, highly recommended.

My Team and I were at the Village Bistro today and we appreciate the wonderful service that the staff gave us especially Luyanda who served us with a smile throughout our stay. We are in retail and we know how difficult it can be to serve a group, however she did that with so much ease. Believe me when I say she is an asset for the Village Bistro. We will always come back because of the wonderful service and the delicious food you serve.
