Just passing by Villa Mexican Food you might miss it, being that it’s hidden among the many little shops on the corner of Ina and Shannon. If you happen to stop in however, you will be glad you did. This place is a hidden gem. The atmosphere is lovely. There is colorful art and music. The service is terrific. My server was friendly, attentive and it took no time at all for my food to arrive. Now to mention the food…If I had to sum my meal up in one word, the word would be authentic. The chips were fresh and the salsa was delicious, spicy and flavorful. I ordered a shredded beef taco combo plate. Two shredded beef tacos, the beef was tender and seasoned just right with shredded iceberg lettuce, cheese and a crisp fried shell. The sides were rice and beans. They were very traditional tasting. I will surely be back to try the other delicious sounding items on the menu.

‘Villa’ is a quaint little Mexican food restaurant in an older plaza on the NE corner of Ina & Shannon roads. It is easy to overlook, but deserves a visit from everyone who loves great Mexican cuisine. The food is excellent, including the chips and the salsa (both of those being this good are hard to come by) which are both made on site. The salsa is so flavorful that we requested 3 refills over dinner, and noticed other patrons asking for more as well. This was a high point for us; excellent salsa is hard to come by out there! The refried beans are very tasty, and the rice fluffy and liked by all in our group. These basics are important, and speak well of the care that goes into their menu. The enchiladas were excellent, the chile relleno very good (better without the enchilada sauce on top). The carne asada was a bit over-salted but still very tasty. The margaritas are well put together there as well and pretty good. The decor and wall art are an attractive mix of Sonoran art and deeper south depictions, and the tables are not crammed together as they are at some other places. Prices? Very reasonable for the quality of their food, beverages and service.
If you haven’t been to Villa, you are missing out. Thank you Villa staff for such a high quality and pleasant experience there!

Villa is a hidden gem! The food here is incredibly flavorful and fresh. Every dish tastes like it was made with care. I saw a review complaining about the chicken tacos, and honestly, I couldn’t disagree more. I tried them myself and thought they were fantastic. Well-seasoned, juicy, and wrapped in warm, soft tortillas. They’re actually one of my favorite things on the menu!
The rest of the food was just as impressive. The enchiladas were rich and satisfying, the rice and beans were perfectly cooked, and the salsa had just the right amount of kick. You can really tell they use quality ingredients. If you’re looking for authentic, delicious Mexican food, this place is a must-try. Highly recommend!

Coming in to the restaurant you feel the warmth. This is not just another Mexican restaurant, it is art, it is culture, it is the warmth of family. AND on top of all of that… they have the BEST Red Chili con Carne in Tucson. A must try!

Stopped here on my way into town and had a great meal. I ordered the 1989 burrito and it was wonderful. Just the right size given that I had also ordered their bean dip. I found their salsa was very fresh with a bit of spice and while I usually prefer a spicier salsa, this still hit the spot well.
Seems like Mexican food in Tucson is hit and miss across the city these days but this place was definitely a hit for me and I’ll try to get back before I leave town.
