Reviews
We order (after seeing all the reviews), mango salad, bun bo hue, both types of spring rolls and a banana jackfruit (durian) icecream.
The highlight was definitely the Bun Bo Hue, the broth and the beef are so incredibly flavorful. The mango shrimp salad was also absolutely perfect, very balanced and the shrimps were perfect cooked. The spring rolls are good. The ice cream was also very good, albeit a bit icy. And if you haven’t eaten durian or can’t eat jackfruit, do not order this, its not for everyone.
Only minor concern/complain was service, not fun having to flag down people from far away for ordering or help everytime. When our ice cream arrived, all our mains were done and we had nicely stacked the dishes for someone to take away. Nobody took them. So yes, service requires a little improvement. They did customize our order, which was nice of them, and the food came quickly, so cant dock any rating for this.
Either way, I’ll be back, many more times. The food is 6 out of 5.
We had the PHỞ TÁI NẠM BÒ VIÊN, BÚN BÒ HUẾ (the soup dishes) as well as CƠM GÀ NƯỚNG, ỐP LA (grilled chicken, rice, fried egg) and BÚN CHẢ HÀ NỘI (Vermicelli noodles with grilled pork). All were excellent, really enjoyed the grilled pork.
If you’re a fan of Vietnamese food, Pho Anh Vu is a must. Right off of Dundas, easy parking.

I’ve been to Pho Anh Vu a couple of times now, and the food is genuinely very good. The pho is flavorful and clearly made with care, which is why we keep coming back.
That said, the service has been consistently mediocre. Each visit, we’ve had to ask for basic items like water, utensils, and bean sprouts for the pho—things that are usually automatic at most pho restaurants. The owner is often there taking orders and can come across as a bit pushy, though he likely sees it as being friendly.
One thing that didn’t sit well with us was a 15% service fee added for a party of five, which felt unnecessary and wasn’t clearly explained. We let it go at the time, but we’ve since heard rumors that tips may not be shared with the staff. If that’s true, it would explain the lackluster service, as it’s hard to stay motivated without fair compensation.
Overall, the food is excellent, but the service and management choices take away from the experience. It’s unfortunate, because this place could be great with a more thoughtful approach to customer service and staff treatment.
We came to eat here a bunch of times on both weekday evenings and weekends. We visited a week after they’ve opened and the last time we went was last week.
Service:
The atmosphere is very nice as soon as you enter. You don’t have to wait barely a minute before you are greeted and asked how many seats you need. You are then escorted to your table and one of the waiters will come and assist you. They’re always attentive and ready to help, whether it is to ask for forks, to help you decide what to order, or to clean up empty plates.
Environment:
The restaurant is very pretty. The tables are clean and spaced out nicely. The lighting is bright but comfortable to the eyes. Music is there, but not too loud that you can’t have a fun conversation at your table. The washrooms? CLEAN! and very nice.
Food:
YUMMY! All the dishes had very nice presentatikns (check out the photos). We ordered the shrimp mango salad – it was sweet yet a bit sour from the vinegar, and a little spicy from the chili. It was so refreshing to eat. It made you hungry for your main order .
As mains, we ordered a lot. We tried the broken rice dishes (rice, veg and protein), cery flavorful. We also tried the different pho soups, but one to mention is the Bone Marrow Pho. First of all, you have tp ask if they still have ot because EVERYONE orders it. The value you get is too good. You end up with DELICIOUS broth with so much flavor but still light and a LOT of meat.
Honestly, it’s our favorite Pho place in Whitby . Definitely recommend!
The vibes were also great! Overall, love the atmosphere created by the interior decorations, the design and the music which all really elevated my experience!
The food was very delicious as well, and were all fresh tasting, along with the beverages we ordered!
Overall, this restaurant is a great spot to visit and enjoy some Vietnamese food!
