Appetizer came out after the food
We told them we haven’t got appetizer after we’ve got food and they said nothing and brought it like 5min later. I saw others getting appetizer pretty quick (same appetizer menu).
The food was good but I would say a little overpriced. I don’t know the meat supposed to be thin or not but it was good
We sat down and waited at least 10 mins for someone to give us the menu, another 10 for someone to take our order. We asked for extra meat and vegetables. Guess what? Same amount of meat and vegetables and charged us $7.5 more. That is outrageous. The service is non existent and the food is average at best. It’s obvious that they have changed the recipe so the pho gets ready faster. The broth is no longer the same and has almost 0 flavor. I am surprised it still has a 4.5 rating but I do see more and more people complaining about its flavor no longer being the same as before. Oh! I forgot to mention they took away even the napkins from the tables. The audacity!
Whoever the new owner is, my advice is, don’t nickel and dime your customers, or we will vote with our feet.
Upon tasting the dish, we were pleasantly surprised; it was the best Vietnamese food we’ve had in Virginia thus far. The flavors were vibrant and well-balanced, showcasing the rich culinary traditions of Vietnam. However, we ultimately rated the meal four stars instead of five due to the overall experience.
The service was impressively quick — our order arrived within five minutes. However, while speed is commendable, it did leave us wanting more substance in our dishes. For $17, the Bun Dac Biet featured thin slices of chicken, thin slices of pork, an egg roll, fresh vegetables, and a generous portion of vermicelli.
Coming from a region known for its exceptional Vietnamese cuisine, I expected a little more protein for the price. In my opinion, the dish would be more appropriately priced at around $13 given the quantity served.
In summary, while the taste and service were commendable, the portion size relative to the price left us feeling a bit underwhelmed. If you’re in the area and looking for delicious Vietnamese food, this spot is worth a visit — just keep an eye on the pricing!
There are a few good places in Richmond for phở – but this place is the only restaurant in Richmond I trust for authentic and delicious Vietnamese foods beyond phở. Their BBH soup, bánh xèo, chả giò & áp chảo cà ri are delicious.
