I went to papa’s Jamaican Restaurant for the first time on 1/12/26 purchased oxtail, they were burnt, the gravy was black black and it was served like it was a special dish, small portion. Knowledgeable it was burnt and even dry, I was told some people like dark gravy, lol, I also purchased the curry goat it was a bit spicy, these restaurants must realize people has health issues, too much pepper you can’t taste the curry. I drove 35 minutes to try this place out. As I went into the area and then the restaurant I was a bit taken back already. That was a red flag, Unclean environment. Totally disappointed. It’s unfortunate we can’t paitenize our people, we need to better !!!

The oxtail was fatty and tough. Needed more time in the pressure cooker. Not what I was expecting. 1st and last.

The lady that fixes the food is such a sweat heart and the food is good, my only complaint is the customer service. I’ve visited several times and was told the oxtails aren’t ready or certain other items aren’t ready. Came for breakfast and they open at 8:30 they didnt open until 10 minutes later.

Food reminded me of home. . Today was my first time and best believe it WONT be my last. The lady that served me was so pleasant…I should have asked her name so I can give her a shout out but next time I will. Yummy food.. I got a oxtail and fry chicken meal and trust me it’s the best oxtail I’ve had since I left home. Big up to the chef.

Only issue I have is that I don’t like when they mix the old rice with the new rice it messes up the WHOLE meal… so please NO LEFTOVER RICE… request fresh rice before u order if you want a pleasant experience…

This lady tried to rip me off for my change. She fixed it when I let her know her math ain’t right. The food amount was not consistent. The last time, it was just mini Ackee and Saltfish and I asked only yams as side. She put one little piece of yam. That is when I knew she got some issues with me or just unprofessional and I don’t need to come back. The fish was greasy as hell because she did not drain like the other staff does. My mom and sister are regulars there so that changed after this experience.

Very stingy with the food to be Jamaican!!!
Food good but can’t order sides in a separate box. Cut bananas in half to count their profit.
Can’t rock like this this with $3 dollars for one scoop of side !
