It was truly a welcome from the traditional dinner we usually have here in Italy.
I had Chicken Pho and it was excellent.
… Robert go Milano and find real hidden gem VietGnam on Via Savona, it actually got soul, got heart ❤️
First impression: red neon sign look like it belong in karaoke bar, but you walk in and BOOM smell of fried spring roll hit you harder than your ex’s new Instagram post.
Owner Sue and her Sicilian husband – what a combo, like nuoc mam meet parmigiano — you already know this gonna be chaotic good.
So nice talking to you and warming up my travel memories from 15 years ago in Vietnam
Now the food —
Bun cha gio bowl – crispy spring roll so crunchy you can hear it confess its sins. Peanuts dancing, tofu like small golden pillows of joy. Vegetables fresh-fresh, not sad salad bar style.
Gỏi cuốn (summer rolls) – tight roll, firm like first love, shrimp visible through the rice paper like peek-a-boo lingerie. Sauce? Thick, nutty, sweet-salty balance — like Vietnamese grandma give you hug and slap at same time.
Chicken skewers – grilled just right, little char, still juicy. If chicken could talk, it would say “thank you for not overcooking me, Sue.”
☕ Vietnamese drip coffee – strong enough to wake your ancestors, sweet condensed milk whispering “don’t worry, everything gonna be okay.”
Atmosphere small but cozy, 20 seats max, colorful cushions that make you wanna take selfie and pretend you in Hanoi street food alley. Sue smile like sunshine but run kitchen like drill sergeant — respect
Verdict:
VietGnam is like that friend who never show off but always deliver. Real flavor, no fusion nonsense, no dry banh mi crimes. Everything taste like love and hustle.
10/10 – very few restaurants make me emotional and hungry at same time. ✨
Every single dish tastes exactly like what I had back in Vietnam. 100% authentic!! You guys HAVE to come try it!!
