Vibe Café, under new ownership since July 2024, offers a fresh take on breakfast, brunch, and lunch in the heart of Hilo. Our most-loved items include the Pastrami Sandwich, Acai Bowls, Ube Halaya Latte, and our signature Pink Waffles. While Vibe began as a vegan/vegetarian café, our expanded menu now features protein options like bacon, fish, and eggs, alongside plenty of flavorful vegan and vegetarian dishes. We’re known for handcrafted coffee and lattes, fresh ingredients, and a menu rooted in Hawaii’s vibrant, locally sourced flavors.

The Pastrami Sandwich was absolutely outstanding. The pastrami was flavorful and perfectly crafted, layered generously on hearty ulu sourdough that had the ideal texture — crisp on the outside, soft inside. The melted havarti added a smooth, creamy balance, and the garlic mayo with mustard gave it just the right kick.
I loved the fresh toppings — crisp lettuce greens, sprouts, red onion, and ripe tomato — everything tasted vibrant and thoughtfully assembled. Even the potato chips on the side were a great touch.
If you’re anywhere nearby, this sandwich is a must-order. Comfort food done right, with local flair.
It’s the kind of spot where you can talk story with friends or get focused on a project without distractions. The setting is peaceful and beautifully designed, and the staff were genuinely kind. I appreciate places that create space for people to slow down and feel welcome—this is definitely one of them.
If you’re looking for somewhere calm, uplifting, and people-centered, I’d say give Vibe a try.
Located just 5 minutes from Hilo Airport, you’ll find Vibe Cafe in a tiny strip of businesses with plenty of parking.
When you walk inside, you’re greeted with pink and floral printed walls, fresh plants and cute seating areas with freshly picked tropical flowers on every table.
As a vegan, I was so excited to find this spot, and absolutely LOVED everything we ordered!
I had the açai bowl and added almond butter. My son had the Strawberry smoothie as a bowl, and also got the pink waffles. We LOVED every bite. The smoothie bowls were some of my favorite ever, and I’m constantly trying new spots.
We will definitely be heading back to this spot as often as we can, so glad to have this option in Hilo.
