We loved our dinner at Via Mare! We had 7 people and were able to make a reservation online which was easy. We were seated in a little corner of the restaurant, which is a beautiful house. The dining room had “living room” vibes, which I loved. The food was delicious – sharing small plates is perfect for a group in my opinion. Ellie was our server and she was AMAZING! She offered recs, coursed our meal, and was super attentive – always ready to see if we needed another round 🙂

The food was so good – the bread with stracciatella was DELICIOUS, as were the oysters (2 different kinds which was fun), seasonal pea salad, the mixed green salad, the duck, and the pasta. I mean everything was delicious but those were the highlights!

We will definitely be back when we return to Nantucket!

Very cool space great date night vibes fantastic service- if someone tells you it’s Italian Do not expect lasagna or meatballs- not that kind of Italian- but there are no wrong answers on this menu. Everything was fantastic. Great wines.

Great restaurant and probably one of my favorites on the island. The menu is unique, shareable, and memorable. Great wine list as well. I can’t wait to go back. The beans and gnocchi were delicious

Pretty much the only restaurant we tried on the island that was worth going back to. Great wine list. Delicious food. Service was a little harried but on the Sunday of Stroll that’s perhaps to be expected.

Really enjoyed our dinner here! Food was some of the best we had on the island and our waitress, Stephanie, made the experience even better. 100% going back!

Tasty dinner in a cool location. Some of the food feels rich (heavy & fatty). We loved the local salad, the soft shell crab (pictured) was great but a bit oily and the lamb has so much cumin it was almost not edible. The description does say lots of cumin and it lives up to that.

I normally don’t walk out of an eatery due to how bad the food is, but Via Mare was the exception. I ordered a breakfast sandwich (14 dollars btw) and the bread was STALE and tasted like it was bulk ordered. The cheese used was a cheap American cheese and the eggs were not seasoned. I’ve had a more gourmet experience at a Dunkin’ Donuts than Via Mare. Do yourself a favor, walk up the street and get a better meal somewhere else. The server didn’t even ask why the sandwich was left basically uneaten.

Coffee isn’t bad tho.

Absolutely terrible food and service. I’m not sure what the buzz is all about—maybe it’s good for drinks, but this was hands down one of the worst meals we had on the island. The food was extremely oversalted (and I’m someone who usually adds salt!).

My boyfriend’s pasta was overly rich and greasy, and the Brussels sprouts were another heavy, greasy dish we definitely didn’t need.

For a place called Via Mare, the seafood selection was surprisingly limited—just oysters and my salmon, which was from Maine (somewhat local, I guess).

To top it off, our server brought out the mains before we finished the appetizers. I could go on, but I think you get the point.

We went here for a birthday dinner and everything was remarkable. They were able to get us in without a reservation and treated us SO well. Stephanie was so lovely and recommended the most amazing dishes. The food here was absolutely amazing, and I’ll be thinking about the Brussels sprouts and kale salad for a while. Would totally go again!

Went to Via Mare tonight for dinner which came recommended from a local. The menu online does not match the in person menu so that was disappointing because we were looking forward to having carbonara and it was actually off the in-person menu, along with a few other items. The inside is beautiful – the vibes are immaculate, the building itself was a little hard to find. Once you walk in though good luck figuring out where to go – we stood in the doorway and walked back and forth trying to find anyone to acknowledge us for our reservation. I finally had to flag down a food runner to figure out where to go. Then we were sat directly next to the bathroom. Lovely.

Anyways, we each got a drink which were fine. We ordered the chicken Milanese bites, bread, brussel sprouts and the cumin lamb. The bread was our favorite. The brussel sprouts were good but overly dressed so after sitting for a bit they became overly sauced soggy messes. The chicken milenese was extremely small but 2nd best. The bread was our favorite – the bread had a good crust and the butter was soft and tasty. Lastly, we tried the cumin lamb and it was so salty, with so much dry rub of cumin that it was inedible – we left most of it uneaten. Our total was $100 for the 4 items & 2 drinks. We told our server (who otherwise was very good!) we didn’t like it and she literally just didn’t care. We collected our check and left. I’m not one to post bad reviews (feel free to check my google reviews) but this was a huge disappointment. We left and tried to get a slice of pizza but it was closed. Guess we are going hungry tonight.
