Vesuvio Restaurant

Social Profile:

Italian Cuisine seen through the lens of the Pepe Family, who came from Napoli, stopped in Hoboken, and settled in Carmel-by-the-Sea. The menu tells their story through food with fantastic wood-burning Neapolitan pizza, classics like Eggplant Parm, and a rotating carte that highlights in-season produce from California farms. On weekends, Vesuvio erupts. Youths line up beside red velvet ropes, waiting for space at the rooftop Star Bar. The dining room is more laid-back. Couples chat with neighboring tables and compare notes on what to order from the extensive, ever-evolving menu. Vesuvio is named for the volcano that gates the Amalfi Coast, so it seems fitting you should end the night with Limoncello. Cin cin!

Romantic eatery featuring pizzas & traditional Italian pasta & meat entrees, plus a rooftop terrace.

We’ve eaten here several times in the past, but it’s been awhile. We were so glad that we came for dinner! Everything that we ate was so delicious!
Started with Scattini Farms Artichoke, a grilled heirloom. The artichoke and aioli della casa sauce were one of the best that we’ve ever eaten.
For entrees, we had the Eggplant Parmigiana with Pappardelle Alfredo and Ragu Bolognese.
Dessert was the Carmel Bakery Brownie and an Expresso Martini.
Our server, Jeff, was outstanding, and we really enjoyed our interactions with him.
We will definitely be back!
They have the only rooftop bar in Carmel, and it gets very busy.
Besides Vesuvio, Chef Pepe has Little Napoli, Peppoli (Inn At Spanish Bay), Carmel Bakery. All are really very good!

Let my pictures do the talking. The food was fantastic, the location was great, and the dining experience was exceptional. After a great round of golf in Monterey, it was the perfect treat to indulge in such a feast. I thoroughly enjoyed all the pizzas, ravioli, and steak.

However, I found the tiramisu to be overpriced, and the beef carpaccio was quite tasteless.

The great neighborhood atmosphere will bring you back just like the locals. We watched the employees greet clients by their names and preferences. The family recipes are authentic and full of flavor. The prices are reasonable but the real bargains are 4-6pm. This is a must visit for Carmel.

MY wife and I were passing through Carmel and was told we had to enjoy some Roof top time at Vesuvios. Well we did and it was such an amazing experience. Rooftop just makes everything better. The house made manhattan and old fashioned that are barreled just for them were absolutely delicious to the last drop. I should have came home with a bottle of each so I could relive that experience. All the drinks were made perfectly. The service was excellent. We had roof top and inside servers since we enjoyed both setting and the service was great. If we get to come back to Carmel we are definitely stopping here again! We did enjoy some meatball lollipops and some gnocchi with a burnt to a perfection cheese on top as well. My only complaint is that we didn’t have enough stomach for food and drinks 😉

Love the rooftop bar vibe. I highly recommend getting the eggplant parm and any cocktail is great. Timed street parking available. After 7 pm is free street parking. There are firepits on the roof.

We had the best time sitting on the rooftop listening to reggae under the heaters and enjoying delicious food. Our waiter was very helpful and attentive.

Props to leslie! Great time on this rooftop and she was quick to get our order, make sure they were perfect, and make sure we were always taken care of. Great martinis, and the lemon drop with the strawberry shrub was a good twist on the drop love this spot, try to come up for happy hour but just know it’s popular!

My wife and I have had many date nights over the past 10 years together. Not many if any have been better than our experience at this restaurant. The ambience, the food, the seating, the wine, the service, I honestly have nothing negative to say about this place. If you were only in Carmel-by-the-Sea for one night, go to this restaurant. If you don’t have a reason to go to Carmel-by-the-Sea, this restaurant is enough

A restaurant so nice we had it twice during our long weekend stay. Everything was SO delicious! I am still dreaming about those saffron arancini balls. *drools* I can‘t wait to come back here the next time we are in Carmel.

Closed the upstairs bar a little early (kinda a bummer) but the food and service was still excellent. The risotto is easily one of the best things I’ve ever had in the MB area.
