I had heard the buzz about Venus & Ole’s, finally had the chance to visit, and it did not disappoint. They have an eclectic cocktail menu, several different burgers, and an interesting pizza selection, but we couldn’t find our way off the starters. We ordered the sweet and spicy chili sesame fried brussel sprouts, Venus pesto pizza fry and the savory & sage bean tostadas. All three were amazing. We also shared the mixed green salad with spicy salami, feta and hot peppers. The greens from the salad were locally sourced from Good Turn Farm. So fresh. So good. Overall, it was a delightful change from some of the pub grub that dominates this area. Definitely worth a visit. We will be back again soon to attack that pizza menu

I ordered the weekend special Kimchi Fried Rice. Amazing. I’ll definitely order it again. Live the atmosphere and vibe here. Patrons and staff so friendly and laid back.

4/26/25 Came back and had Tostada with refried beans. Holy cow. Excellent.

-5/02/25 Returned last weekend and had the green chile smash burger and french fries with garlic aoli. DEEEEE-LISH. I’ll be back.

This is best spot in Pierce County. Faith and her staff are delightful, serving a variety of craft drinks, tonics and locally sourced food. Nothing on the menu will disappoint, least of all their brussel sprouts, an item I order without fail during each visit. If you’re looking for soulful dishes with rich ingredients and heartwarming staff, head on over to Venus & Ole’s.

I absolutely love this place! I had the wild rice brat sandwich with caramelized onions, and Swiss cheese. I cannot even express how excellent it was. I got the rosemary, french fries with homemade aïoli. This food was such an unexpected delight. They have a great beer selection as well. Though I don’t normally drink beer I felt like one that day, and my server was really wonderful telling me all of the different kinds. I wish I could remember her name because she was fabulous! Next time I’m in the area that’s where I’m going. Heck, I might even drive from the Twin Cities over there just to have that meal again.

So, we stopped for a quick bite and they were short handed, so it took a little longer than we’d like, but, it was worth the wait! Food was fantastic. I had the grilled cheese which has sour kraut in it! So tasty, beyond expectations. Others had a Burger (great!) and a neat vegetarian meatball sandwich which was excellent. So, in spite of the time it took, we were very satisfied and happy with the result.

Faith has been amazing everywhere I’ve had the privilege of eating her food. We have happily followed her to Venus and Ole’s and she is knocking it out of the park. She uses local ingredients whenever possible, and makes darn near everything from scratch. Her fries are always the BEST, and there’s really nothing she makes that disappoints.

She has taken her pizza to the next level here, incredible burgers and salads, and there’s specials that are almost always unbeatable. For example, Bacon- Prosciutto sliders on Kings Hawaiian buns, fried green tomato, avocado-ricotta mousse, pickled veg. Packed with flavor and cooked perfectly.

Venus and Ole’s is a crown jewel to the beautiful Wisconsin River Road, and worth the trip to get there every time. Do not miss it.

We stayed for a weekend in Lake Pepin area and the food here was amazing! It looks just like your standard bar with a tiny one room kitchen, but everything is truly “farm to tavern”. Fresh roasted hatch chilis on a smash burger, delicious sauces on the daily special steak salad (which was no ordinary salad, so good!). Best food in a long time. We also had our newborn with us and the “all mom” staff was so welcoming and wonderful.

I was so impressed with Venus & Ole’s! The service was attentive and friendly and the food was incredible! I loved that this feels like the small town bar is my childhood, but that I can eat fresh, tasty, innovative food. Try it! I think you’ll like it!

After a long day of hiking through Frontenac State Forest my friend and I were naturally famished. We decided to check out Venus & Ole’s in the small little village of Maiden Rock.
Upon entering the tavern we were immediately greeted by one of the lovely ladies from behind the bar as she was pouring drinks. I approached her and asked if we just sat ourselves and she said, “absolutely!” The owner politely requested we sit away from the bar as she noticed our small dachshund weiner dog which we fully understood so my companion and I sat on the outdoor porch.
After a bit the owner came out with menus and a condiment caddy and mentioned how they were understaffed that evening and requested that when we were ready to order to come inside. The population of Maiden Rock, WI was 115 in 2023 so it’s understandable and they were rather busy with the dinner rush. I noticed that all the items in their menu that were vegetarian/vegan were clearly noted and there were lots of options to choose from.
After deciding on our fancy, my companion and I went back in, ordered the black bean sub and the mushroom pizza, and some drinks. We got our drinks immediately and we went back and sat outside. The fellow patrons admired our weiner dog and made friendly conversation with us while we waited for our food. The patio seating had outdoor speakers which played a variety of different tunes, most of which was tasteful country.
It did take them quite a while, but they were understaffed as stated. When our food did arrive it was very delicious. The mushroom pizza had multiple different species of mushrooms and was quite tasty. The black bean sub was also flavorful and was served with a side of French fries. The condiments were not needed, aside from the ketchup for the fries. The portions were reasonable and the food arrived hot.
I went inside to request the check and the waitress came out shortly after and told me the total. I handed her my card and she retreated to run it through. The bill came out to being $50 for the pizza, sub, beer, and alcoholic daiquiri drink my friend ordered. We signed the check and as we made our way out we received warm farewells from the waitress who greeted us as well as a few of the patrons with whom we made conversation with. The overall experience was relaxing and I would certainly make the pit stop again next time we are in the area.
