The outside does not do credit to this venue as once inside it opens up into a lovely modern bar and restaurant, with further space on a veranda overlooking the river. The menu is not long but still has plenty of nice choices and the food was excellent. The staff were also friendly and attentive. I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant and will be returning in the future.

Great place you enjoy the summer evenings, staff are friendly and polite and service is great. Only had a drink so can’t rate the food but what I did see it look lovely. Found a rare gem here will definitely be back.

River Thai is a very good restaurant with covid safety applied perfectly, the staff are polite, efficient and friendly and obviously trying their best under difficult circumstances. The food is excellent, the setting is perfect and the place was spotless…My wife and I will be back !.. I was back in Shrewsbury lately and the restaurant was shut due to the flooding.. hope it reopens.

Stumbled upon this restaurant when we dropped in to Shrewsbury after a day in Shropshire. We were given a seat outdoor on the pontoon overlooking the river. Good selection of cocktails – which could also be made non-alcoholic – and food menu was extensive but not overwhelming.
Highly recommend the pad thai which had a sweet sticky sauce. The larb salad was also delicious!

Modern Thai restaurant with all menu items freshly prepared. Prices are average, service is adequate, the menu is rather short but there are no glaring omissions (and vegetarian/vegan options are available). The cocktails menu stands out as unique to Thai restaurants in Shrewsbury, and makes River Thai a great location for the summer as it has a long balcony overlooking the River Severn. Having been once before shortly after its initial opening, I can say the place has improved significantly as the business has matured. Overall, not tremendously memorable, but you can’t go wrong.
