Venezia’s New York Style Pizza Presto somehow turned a simple pizza order into a slow-burn tragedy.

Right off the bat, my boyfriend places the order and we’re prompted to tip — on a college campus, which definitely set the tone. While he’s standing there trying to finish the transaction, the employee is laughing with coworkers, barely paying attention, and then staring him down as he’s still deciding what to do. Uncomfortable for everyone involved.

After that, the wait stretched on far longer than expected. Long enough that a friend who ordered 15 minutes after us received her food first. At that point, my boyfriend had to go ask where our order was, because it clearly wasn’t moving on its own.

Things really went downhill once we sat down.

We were sitting inside, yet somehow surrounded by multiple flies that took a very serious interest in our pizza. Not hovering — fully landing, repeatedly. I didn’t ask for the Meat Lovers pizza with added wildlife, but apparently it comes included. Eating quickly became more about defense than enjoyment.

To be fair, the pizza itself was actually good. The flavor was solid, and unlike a lot of pizza places, it wasn’t greasy or heavy, which was genuinely appreciated. If this place were judged on taste alone, it would be doing much better.

Unfortunately, service, pacing, and basic fly control matter too. Three stars — good pizza, questionable experience, and an indoor dining situation that felt a little too close to the outdoors.

The other day I was out for a walk around the neighborhood when I noticed a sign for a new Venezia’s location! Venezia’s is our favorite pizza place, and we were stoked to try out this new spot.

But what we didn’t realize is that this isn’t a true Venezia’s. It’s a “Pizza Presto”, the “fast pizza” version of the real deal. First off, the menu is smaller; makes sense, it’s a grab and go place next to an insanely busy college campus. We were told it would be a 15 minute wait for cheese slices (why they didn’t have these ready on a Friday night at 6pm is kinda wild to me, but I don’t own a pizza restaurant), and it ended up being 25 minutes. It didn’t help that our order wasn’t understood correctly by the cashier, who packed it up to-go when we told him we were dining in. This was more of an annoyance than a real problem, and the longtime staff who we recognized from the main store were quick to amend things for us.

But the real letdown was with the food quality. It was immediately apparent to us that the quality of the food was inferior to the tried and true Venezia’s locations. Each of us struggled to finish our single slice of pizza, and my daughter even complained that the olives tasted weird (that might be the first time in her life she’s refused to eat olives). Each of us would easily pass a blind taste test between a normal Venezia’s pie and this… whatever it is.

So Venezia’s fans beware! This is a subpar, watered down, low-effort, bland cafeteria version of the real thing. But you know what, it’s perfect for the transplant college kids who don’t know any better, and my hope is that this location will siphon some of the college crowd away from the regular Venezia’s.

I plan to avoid this location as long as I live. It’s a shame that Venezia’s has been forced to play by ASU’s rules of engagement, and it’s sad to see a top tier pizza maker stoop to such low levels. But this is how capitalism works, with quality slipping away, diluting itself further and further until the brand becomes completely indistinguishable from formula that made it successful in the first place.

We stopped in here for a snack as while waiting for an event to begin. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and helpful. With three people in our party allergic to dairy, I was so grateful they have vegan options. We had an order of the family size vegan cheesy breadsticks, it was delicious beyond our expectations .

Great, affordable pizza place near ASU. Beautiful scenery of the Mountain, GREAT customer service and more food for vegetarians/vegans.

I used to live in NJ just outside of the city. This pizza joint is spot on for its New York Syle Pizza. Super glad I stopped in. It was like going home for a second 🙂

Sat outside and had a nice view of the passers by below.

Staff was friendly and helpful, they even brought our food to the table for us.

Wonderful experience 🙂

I want to start off by saying I’m a 3rd party delivery courier. I came in on a Friday and was told I had to wait in a long line. What’s funny is I saw other drivers not have to wait in a like 15 people deep. I don’t think this is fair. The guy who told me this was tallish and had dark hair and I think his initials were LP. He appeared to be helping package to go orders. Never have to do this at other places. Treat people better. Here’s the kicker: THE ORDER WAS READY THE ENTIRE TIME WAITING IN THE WARMER WHILE I WAS STANDING IN LINE FOR 10+ minutes.

Imma give some context, I’ve been here roughly five times before tonight and had gotten the gun-slinger ranch a couple of times. The previous time I came here before tonight I had ordered with my friend my usual slices. I asked for pepperoni and jalapeño slices in which the person at counter says, “those aren’t on display so if you order those they’re gonna be a long while”, sounded like they didn’t want to make it which I let slide because like, I get it sometimes. I settled for some they already had and ordered gunslinger ranch, that counter person, who is giggling with her coworkers proceeds to ask “are you the guys that come in and always order the gun slinger ranch?” ?????? I had literally never seen this person before Honestly kinda excusable because that’s lowkey funny. Tonight though, I come in and order and everything is fine. Until I receive what is shown in the pictures. Two room temperature slices, one that had no pepperoni and clearly improperly made as it is pictured by one that IS properly made. The craziest part being that there were four normal looking pepperoni and jalapeño slices on display I don’t honestly know how someone could serve this, that’s actually wild

I like this new location, especially on game days before or after a football game.
We went as they were getting ready to close after a football game. I bought the last slice they had left. Even though they were closing, a bunch of people were still there eating and drinking. The staff was super friendly and helpful.
I’ve always liked their pizza and have enjoyed the other locations but this one will be a for sure stop on most game days.

I was ripped off here for pizza that made me bloated. Clean organic ingredients for pizza doesn’t make me bloated like this. It wasn’t even mediocre pizza. Such a disappointment. My wallet really felt the sting though. Not worth it.

Horrible service. Absolutely disappointing that the people behind the counter were more worried about checking the score of a game than tending to my order in time. A combo of two slices took more than 20 mins even though the slices were already ready. Never coming back
