Reviews
The tortillas felt a bit larger than what I usually expect for tacos, but overall the experience was still very enjoyable thanks to the unique flavors. The staff was polite and welcoming, and they were happy to serve us even though we arrived close to kitchen closing time around 9:25 pm. I would definitely recommend Velvet Taco to anyone who has not tried it yet.
We also tried the steak tacos and the chicken tikka taco and both were really good. The cauliflower taco deserves a special shoutout because it had no business being that good and yet here we are still thinking about it.
For sides we ordered the queso and the elote. Both were delicious but the elote was the clear favorite. If we could have bathed in it we probably would have.
The vibe is fun and lively and the music is definitely loud so come ready to eat great tacos and yell your compliments across the table. We will be back.
As for the tacos, they were solid. The flavors were there, though I’ve had better elsewhere. The pricing wasn’t bad—maybe a bit on the higher side—but still understandable for the experience.
Overall, I’d come back. It’s not my favorite taco spot, but it’s a pretty decent option all around.
The Korean Fried Rice Taco was uniquely memorable! Fried rice IN a taco??? Mind blowing! The combination of the red chili alioli, egg fried rice, pulled pork in the flour tortilla is hard to beat. It’s definitely worth the premium price. I also ordered the Chicken and Waffle Taco. The savoury combination with the sweet taco waffle shell created an immediate ‘mouthgasm’. Two tacos was sufficient for me to feel well fed and satisfied. I know fully both tacos were calorie-rich. I chose to suspend my ‘health conscious’ mind at the door and indulge in a review-worthy taco experience.
On my next visit to this restaurant, i’m looking forward to trying the Spicy Tikka Chicken and Fish ‘n’ Chips.
I enjoyed a sample of the Red Velvet Cake. It was VERY moist, even without the caramel drizzle. I intend to order a proper full slice on my next visit!
‘Fire It Up’ was our go-to fusion taco restaurant in Naperville before it closed in 2023. Velvet Taco fills the void left by our former favourite fusion taco joint.
Great value for your dining dollars. You will not be disappointed
Service was way better than you’d expect for a counter-order place. The staff were genuinely friendly, helpful, and seemed like they actually enjoy being there. Definitely the kind of place where you want to tip, even though it’s not table service.
Even on a regular weeknight, the place had a lively, outgoing crowd. Just good energy all around—hard to explain but the vibe is one of those things that makes you want to come back. Young, social crowd, but it doesn’t feel too loud or chaotic. Feels like people go there as much for the atmosphere as for the food.
We tried the margarita, chicken tikka taco, grilled steak taco, cauliflower taco and the red velvet cake.
The tacos and cake were all delicious!
Margarita felt too water drained for an on the rocks and the server missed adding the velvet cake in first order so had to reorder.
The place was super crowded so the wait time was substantial!
Overall good tasting food and a must try!
Its cute atmosphere, good concept, great location but….lets’ just say came her with big expectation lol
We were a little worry because the menu had no price, until we saw the menu at the wall; in all, two adult two young kids set us back $80.00 I guess not bad?!
We came here on a Friday and obviously the restaurant is new so EVERYONE are here! there not enough table lol. LONG line at cashier, super long lines, alot of ppl are still eating, some ordered but no table lol
The tacos is really tasted like very bland…the angus brisket is too wet for taco, grilled steak is too dry, chimichurri steak too much avocado. the taco bowl doesnt taste like taco lol
