I’ve been driving by Velvet Smoke for awhile now telling myself I was going to give it a try some day and I’m absolutely thrilled that I finally did. The food is outstanding and the service was even better. I had 10 mouths to feed for a small gathering and emailed for a catering order about 4 days out. Andi was quick to reply with a warm welcome and help planning a meal for the group. It’s obvious to me that she and the rest of her team deeply care about the experience they offer their patrons. For a catering/group order especially, the service alone would keep me coming back. In fact, I’m excited to come back again –
The sooner the better – and to spread the word.
We had the mesclun salad, pulled pork, brisket, mac, green beans and cookies. For me, the meats were spot on and the highlight as I had hoped. Delicious and tender. Really enjoyed the spicy bbq sauce. The dark horse was the chocolate chip cookies. Soooo good.

Thankful to have discovered a great bbq spot not far from home and looking forward to ordering again!

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. And when I found velvet smoke,
I did get lucky. The brisket is Good enough to be featured in Texas Monthly Barbecue Finder app. The only reason I went with four stars instead of five is that the brisket was a tiny bit dry but since I prefer lean over moist sometimes that happens. Cheesy potatoes were OK. Baked bean were a little more vinegary that I like, but I’ve mixed in some of the barbecue sauce and they toned down. To their credit, the beans were not cooked down to mush. Still had some texture.
Compliments to the Pitmaster. Wanted to try the Burnt ends, but unfortunately, they were sold out.

I don’t do many reviews as you can probably see, but when someone/something stands out I will take the time and put in the effort to give credit where credit is due! My boss likes to do things last minute, so when he tasked me with finding a caterer (with only days til game day) to deliver to his RV to cater for 20 people for a Bears/Bengals game I knew I had job ahead of me. ChatGPT is my best friend these days and she gave me a top 5 list. I printed out the menu for this place and set it in front of him and said “I’m ordering here – pick your items”, not even knowing if they could do it – I think I was just hungry at the time and their menu looked the best of all of them. I emailed all 5 of the suggestions I was given and 4 of them said “sorry – we’re too busy”. Not this place. They made it happen. Not only did they say yes, but when he changed his headcount to 30 people at the last minute I didn’t they could accommodate, but they did! Andi, who was my contact is now my new best friend. If my boss is happy we’re all happy. When I saw him and a few of the guests at the office the next morning I asked how the food was and they said it was “amazing” and the wings were hands down the best they had EVER had! These are guys that tailgate all over the country and I am not usually the one to have to find their catering for them, and it was a little stressful to have to try to pull off last minute so thank you Andi, for making this happen and being so flexible!! You will definately be seeing them again!

**UPDATE** I got new burnt ends and they were everything I expected them to be. They were so juicy and delicious that I had to get 2 lbs of burnt ends alongs with 3 whole ribs. Andi thank you so much for the credit and your phenomenal customer service. I will see you all again soon……..

I am so disappointed that after many years of coming to this place, I received a pound of old, dry burnt ends from VSQ. I purchase from here regularly and know what I usually receive. So to be lied to by the manager and told that they were fresh and I could come back and purchase more really upset me. I would really love a credit for a pound of burnt ends that I paid for and couldn’t eat. The ribs and chicken were delicious as always but please check your burnt ends before you leave. I know I will from now on.

We had Velvet Smoke BBQ cater our pastor’s 25th church anniversary on 03/30/25, and they absolutely delivered! From the pulled pork and chopped chicken to the mac-n-cheese, loaded potatoes, brioche buns, and an incredible variety of BBQ sauces—everything was phenomenal. We had a meal catered for 165 people, and all we heard were raves about the food—not a single complaint. Andi was fantastic throughout the entire process, keeping communication clear and making sure everything went smoothly. We’ll definitely be recommending Velvet Smoke to everyone and will absolutely be using them again. Thank you for making our event unforgettable!

“Chef Kiss” mm mm mm!
These wings was the best. Take out only, called my order in after church on a Sunday and was not disappointed! Sides are too small for the price so I probably would not buy sides again
but the wings… ❤️. Will try ribs next time❣️

The best bbq place in Cincinnati. I have nothing bad to say about their food. The only downside is their hours and they sell out of food fast. Their brisket and burnt ends are the best. The best time to go is right when they open to be sure you’ll have a good selection.

We went around 5 on a Saturday night. It was busy but they moved through the line quickly. Someone grabbed my order by mistake so they had to remake it, and they were very apologetic. By the time we got there they were already out of turkey and macaroni. We tried all the other meats available. The pulled pork was good. Brisket and ends were slightly dry compared to some other bbq places we’ve tried. Pulled chicken was the least favorite of the family. The green beans and baked beans were delicious. Cheddar potatoes and cornbread were just okay. There are a few seats at a bar to dine in, but that’s it.

We went here and the customer service was great the food was hot and fresh. However I’m from the south and the bbq I’m used to tastes differently than this, the ingredients and preparation of the food is completely different than what I’m used to. I got the ribs and they seemed under cooked as I said before different ethnicities cook differently. So I wouldn’t say the food was nasty, but it was new to me and you just have to approach it with an open mind!!! Both meals were $22 combined appropriate for bbq I guess . The meat was under cooked and not done , the mac n cheese tasted like over cooked noodles with cheese on top would not return .
