The food was so goood. The Masaman short rib was amazing ( the parata on the side was super flaky). Loved the Vella omlette too. Also recommend the Thai tea matcha. Possibly the best brunch I have had so far in the bay.

stumbled upon Vela while looking for a place to eat on Christmas. Found them on open table. Food looked good and Thai brunch seemed interesting.
we ordered roti dip, stuffed French toast, velo omelette with duck, massaman short rib, thai iced coffee, lychee lemonade, & hot coffee.
Everything was really good. I like Thai food and most of the Thai restaurants in the bay area are good, but vela definitely stood out & above your average Thai restaurant.
I have been to Son & Garden in Menlo Park, which imo is more for the gram and the food was ok but presented beautifully.
I was really surprised at how good Vela was & prices were reasonable. Service was great & they were very attentive. I talked to the staff & they had only been opened for 2.5 months. I was telling them the only thing missing to make this a hot spot for brunch was alcohol and they told me they are working on getting their liquor license and hopefully should be available in 3 weeks or so. They also mentioned that there are different items on the dinner menu.
I highly recommend you give this place a try.

Delicious food and amazing service! So glad that a new Thai spot opened up near us. Food came out quickly and they were super friendly. My favorites were the pad thai and nam khao. Can’t wait to come back to try other foods!

The foods are very delicious. All dishes are authentic Thai. The prices are reasonable. The location is right in downtown San Jose. Very good. Must try menu with all of meats.

Came here for a lunch date and wow! New favorite thai spot. Everything was so well balanced with flavor, batter to meat ratio and juicy! Totally coming back to try out the other dishes and excited to introduce this spot to our friends 🙂

Thoroughly enjoyed myself here! My partner happened to bring home a Pad Thai for me yesterday and it was so good I went back today to dine in. We ordered a variety of things and enjoyed each one! Every dish I got was delicious and the service was great. Will be coming back often as I love Thai food.

The food was flavorful, beautifully plated, and felt like Thai comfort food with a modern twist.
Kor Moo Yang were juicy, Vela omelette were rich and creamy, and even the veggies were super fresh.
I also highly recommend the Mok Pla, one of their special menu items — 10/10, must try!
Service was amazing too — friendly, attentive, and made us feel really taken care of❤️❤️

We came here for dinner but I really wanted to try their vela omelette that they only serve for brunch. The staff was so kind to accommodate my request and served it to me! It was sooooo good! Generous amount of crab meat and the sauce has a little bit of kick which just balances the creaminess of the dish. My husband ordered the chef’s special which is catfish wrapped in banana leaf and veggies on the side. Overall, such a delightful meal!!!

Saw this Thai brunch place on Instagram and came to try the crab omelette and the pink milk that I couldn’t find anywhere in the bay. This place was a Thai restaurant but it was taken over and renovated into this cozy brunch place. The food was great so was the service.

Vela Thai is an amazing new spot in DTSJ! Food and service is great! The food is authentic, incredibly flavorful, and you can really taste the freshness in every dish. It’s so nice to finally have a go to Thai restaurant nearby home that truly hits the mark. We’ll definitely be coming back highly recommend!
