Hands down the best food in New Hampshire. We always make a point to treat ourselves to a dinner at the Van Horn dining room whenever we are in NH. I live in NYC, so the bar is high for food. This place knocks it out of the park EVERY TIME!
Cocktails are solid, wine selection fantastic, and the menu has delicious options for everyone.
The atmosphere feels transportive — cozy, cinematic, and straight out of a 1920s dream, like dining inside a softly lit period film. If you are in the area, DO NOT MISS this GEM!

We had an amazing Valentine’s Day dinner at the Van Horn dining room. The steak tartar was one of the best I’ve ever had! I had the signature Hot Pink martini which was incredible—perfect balance of sweet and spicy! I had my own gluten free roll which was great. We couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience!

Had a fantastic 89oz filet mignon. Side of asparagus, mashed potatoes and gravy. Everything was great. Meat was very tender and perfectly cooked and presented. My wife had lobster pepardelle with freshly sautéed truffles. She was amazed at the number of truffles and the preparation of the dish. Both meals were a solid 5. I wasn’t planning on having desert, but heard they had homemade ice cream, 5 very unique flavors, I couldn’t resist maple/coffee. Homemade. Was tremendous.
The waitress was lovely and a very good server. The “dining room” literally transports you to the turn of the last century. (Very early 1900s) Gorgeous woodwork which we learned had been crafted at the Brittish owner’s (Van Horns) direction by European craftsmen. Watching the sunset from the dining room was also amazing.

We enjoyed dinner at the Van Horn estate this week, our third visit but first with the new menu. Started with kale Caesar salad and fish chowder followed by halibut and locally sourced steak (ribeye), all delicious. The lobster pappardelle, which we had on a prior visit, is still on the menu and highly recommended with generous lobster portions. We’ve also enjoyed the fish tacos, farm salad, charcuterie and deviled eggs in the Bistro, great flavors. Service in both dining rooms is friendly and attentive and the property has a wonderful ambience.
