I love this local diner! I’ve been here multiple times and the folx there never disappoints! The food is consistently good, always freshly made and comes out hot. My personal favorites include their Belgian-style waffles and hash browns. The waffles are perfectly crispy and airy and any topping is delicious. The hashbrowns are always hot and crispy, a perfect accompaniment to eggs, bacon, sausage, and usual breakfast foods.
The staff here is really nice, friendly, and warm. It really the experience even more special. I always have a bunch of questions about the menu and the servers are always patient and helpful.
Lastly, I like that the place is always clean! Sometimes, diners can be divy or downright dirty, but not Van Dorn Diner.

Burger was tasty, beefy & grilled with fresh romaine lettuce and nice thick tomato slices. Sweet potato fries were abundant and crisp. Avgolemono was full of flavor however a little on the salty side (maybe want to hold back on salt since lemon is prominent). Will definitely be back to try the other menu items.

Needed to grab a bite while getting my vehicle serviced at the Mini Alexandria Dealership. Saw that the Van Dorn Diner was within walking distance so I took a chance on grabbing a bite. Was immediately welcomed when I walked into the door. Was able to sit anywhere I wanted and was given a menu and had my drink order taken. Within a few minutes my drink was on the table and my order was taken. The feel of the restaurant is very cozy, comfortable and inviting. The staff was very polite, helpful and knowledgeable about the entire menu. Placed my order and it seems as if it were seconds, my food was on the table. My eggs were perfectly cooked and the food was fresh and delicious. I’m truly a sucker for restaurants that serve breakfast all day! The cost of the meal was extremely reasonable, and the restrooms are very clean and well stocked as well. If you’re looking for a lovely diner feel without the high restaurant prices, please check out Van Dorn Diner, you won’t be disappointed. Enjoy!

This is such a gem. They have tasty foods, great service and they’ve added a lot of new dishes since its opening. I love their vegetarian options like their potatoes hash veggie dish. I always get that dish and it’s always a great meal to eat.
When it’s not crowded, the service is fast and the staff always want to chat which is so nice. Weekends are crowded. This is not a diner that’s open 24 hours so look before you go if you want to eat in the evening specially during the week.
Parking is ample. The sipping area is being renovated but they are open for sure! Parking is still a lot even during construction.

Its a fun 50s feeling dinner with great cheap food. We came for breakfast and were blown away by the French Toast and the abundance of food. We are looking forward to going back again.

Everything was freshly made, served warm, and tasted absolutely delicious.
The portions were perfect, and you could really tell they care about the quality of their food. Definitely coming back again!

I was just there for coffee though I have been before. I was watching some amazing breakfast meals walk by my table. Made me wish I was hungry. Regrettably they don’t have GF substitutes for any bread related products and I have not asked what kind of oil they use. Atmosphere depends upon the volume of groups or children. Overall, I like it there.
