Our favorite part of our meal was the bread and dip they bring at the beginning. The rest of the meal was rather underwhelming. We got the salad sampler and pasta sampler for appetizers. Due to us being sandwiched between tables, their table side plating was done a few tables away. Even our bottle of wine had to be stored far away from the table. Both samplers were a 4 out of 10 at best. Then we had the lasagna and the scallopine di dish which had a pork loin, potatoes, and broccoli in a white sauce. The lasagna was maybe 5 out of 10 and the scallopine an 8 out of ten. We had creme brulee for dessert, that was good.
Our server was fantastic, but overall I just don’t see the whole experience worth the money. I don’t see myself coming back as I believe there are better Italian options for way less money.
The soup arrived at 6:33 where they do a show of plating it table side. I can do without the theatrics when I’m hungry please and thank you. The soup was delicious with the mushrooms and beans even our daughter enjoyed it. Then we waited another 30 minutes for our entrees and only after I had to ask the server why it was taking so long. Our daughter was getting antsy getting close to her bedtime. I did notice what appeared to be my entree in the window by itself for awhile. The entrees didn’t arrive until 7:08 during which time my husband and daughter killed a basket and a half of bread. Thank goodness for the bread I guess. During that time many tables that came when we did finished and left.
Of course because it had been sitting out my salmon was cold and I could barely swallow the bite. The manager did quickly get a hot entree to me with minutes. During that time I tried my husband’s ravioli gnocchi sampler which was also lukewarm despite the show of bringing it out in pans and plated table side. I picked the restaurant and was embarrassed that it was such a horrible experience for our anniversary. There’s no excuse for us getting out entrees out at past 7 when our reservation was at 530 with a toddler and with us being ready to order within minutes. Yes, the manager comped an entree and they brought out a biscotti with a candle but it doesn’t take away from the fact that our special dinner was essentially ruined by extremely slow service, high prices and mediocre food. $38 for 4 lukewarm raviolis and gnocchi is robbery. Fine dining in SLC in general has been a huge letdown and this is one prime example.
Truly, a feast for the pallet! Al bacio!!
Service was below expectation for this price range. Basic tasks like order accuracy and the server’s presence was lacking, the Spanish staff for other tables were present with their tables. Staff for us was mimicking politeness and was not fully present. (Lacking awareness , focus and attentiveness.
Food had balanced flavors but poor texture. The pasta was soft and overcooked, and the sausage in the carbonara was burned to the point of being inedible (thankfully removed from the bill).
The pistachio “gelato” had great flavor but the texture was closer to ice cream.
Overall, solid flavors and presentation, but execution and service need refinement. I’d return in a few years if those improve.
We ordered the Caesar salad, pasta sampler, pollo della casa, and a seasonal salmon dish. For dessert, we had a seasonal special: fresh peaches with gelato, topped with lemon, honey, and sea salt. It was definitely the star of the show.
The service wonderful. Sergio was warm and attentive.
My only complaint is that the tables were very close together, which made it hard to have a private conversation. It was easy to hear our neighboring tables conversations which we didn’t love.
Loved the food! We will be back.
All of the employees were kind, polite, and observant. There was never a moment where we were not greeted, thanked, or served. Drinks were always full, and the food kept coming and coming! They did a fantastic job explaining each element of the dishes they served us – the ingredients, the sauces, and the pairings.
Now the food was phenomenal. You could taste that everything was fresh and only quality ingredients were used, especially with the meats, the pasta, and the sauces. Also, the extra virgin olive oil they use here is to die for! I could drink this stuff by the cup. Some of my favorite dishes were the limoncello pasta, the spicy gnocchi, the arugula salad, and the prosciutto w/ burrata. The dessert was also amazing, and so fun to watch our server prepare it in front of us.
I definitely recommend coming here for your next fine dining experience, to celebrate a big milestone, or for a special date night. You’ll love it!
